On 24 May 13 Deputy Sheriff McPeek issued a citation to Jason Richardson, age 25, 6161 North Prince Road, Malta, for reckless operation. A Corrections Officer supervising a roadside cleanup crew near milepost twenty-two on State Route 339 reported Mr. Richardson drove past their location at a high rate of speed, locked his brakes and multiple times and did several donuts.

On 24 May 13 the Wesley Fire Department transported a five year old Amesville resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital after he was kicked in the head by a horse at his grandfather’s property at 190 Harshberger Lane, Amesville. Suffering a contusion around his left eye, the child was later med-flighted to Children’s Hospital in Columbus (1090).

On 24 May 13 Brad A. Zimmer, age 36, 320 Fourth Street, Beverly, was traveling on Fleming Road when he heard a popping noise and noticed smoke starting to fill the passenger compartment of his 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. The Lowell-Adams and Oak Grove fire departments responded and extinguished the fire, which fully engulfed the vehicle. No foul play is suspected (597).

On 24 May 13 Amber Oliver, age 18, 27476 State Route 7, Marietta, reported she was involved in a minor altercation with her mother outside their home. Ms. Oliver said her mother slapped her and the dog she was holding in one motion but she did not feel her mother was attempting to cause her harm. Ms. Oliver’s mother stated she attempted to “fake” slap her daughter and accidentally struck the dog. As a result of his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Huffer closed this case as unfounded.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Casey Scott Butler, age 24, 3571 Azalea Avenue, Canton, OH, for speeding and for failure to appear, both misdemeanors. Butler was picked up in Stark County and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 13 at 1:41 pm.

Paula Lynn McCarty, age 44, 164 Oak Drive, Little Hocking, for a felony count of theft and for misdemeanor charges of obstructing official business and theft. McCarty was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 13 at 3:23 pm.

Douglas Gene Snider Sr., age 60, 164 Oak Drive, Little Hocking, for a felony charge of theft and for misdemeanor charges of theft, contempt of a court order and contempt for failing to pay fines. Snider was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 13 at 4:04 pm.

Matthew Jacob Shaffer, age 25, 330 Fourth Street Apt. C, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Shaffer was arrested on Greene Street by Patrolman McClelland of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 13 at 6:40 pm.
