On 14 Apr 13 Deputy Sheriff Huffer arrested Ethan W. Reed, age 21, 1090 Neff Ridge Road, Reno, for .08 breath OVI. Deputy Huffer found Mr. Reed asleep in his pickup truck with the engine running parked in the intersection of Berga Road and State Route 7 in Grandview Township. Roused from his slumber, Mr. Reed appeared confused and disoriented. Mr. Reed had an odor of alcohol and admitted consuming at least eight beers earlier in the evening. At the Washington County Jail Mr. Reed tested .149 BAC.

On 14 Apr 13 the Reno Fire Department transported a thirty-five year old Marietta resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to a possible overdose on prescription medication. The victim, who appeared drowsy and slurred her speech, said she did not have suicidal thoughts and did not intend to harm herself. The victim’s husband said his wife is addicted to prescription medication and may have faked a seizure in order to be transported to the hospital to obtain more pills.

On 14 Apr 13 Deputy Sheriff Holbert and the Beverly Fire Department were dispatched to a barn fire on the property of Donald Sparling, age 86, at 4525 Sparling Road, Waterford. Fully engulfing the barn, the fire spread to a nearby greenhouse and a storage building. The barn housed farm equipment, tools, approximately forty chickens, four ducks and several baby ducks and chickens, all of which were lost in the fire. The cause of the fire is unknown but may be related to a heat lamp used to keep the baby chickens and ducks warm. The State Fire Marshal was contacted to determine the fire’s exact cause.

On 14 Apr 13 Marc E. Walker, age 48, 116 Sanjubar Drive, Marietta, reported an acquaintance’s teenage son brandished a stun gun while he was having a discussion with one of the fifteen year old’s family members. Mr. Walker previously angered the teenage suspect by accusing him of not standing up for his autistic son when he was bullied while playing with a friend at the Reno Community Center. This case remains under investigation (1010).

On 14 Apr 13 Karen Coe, age 61, 10557 State Route 555, Cutler, reported her husband recently discovered pry marks near the knob on a rear door to their residence. Ms. Coe said the suspect did not gain entry and that no property was missing from the home. This case remains under investigation (912).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Ethan William Reed, age 21, 1090 Neff Ridge Road, Reno, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Reed was arrested on State Route 7 in New Matamoras by Deputy Sheriff Huffer and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 13 at 4:50 am.

Michael Von Richards, age 35, 1365 McGill Road, Vincent, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug abuse instruments. Richards was arrested on Greene Street by Patrolman McClelland of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Apr 13 at 8:15 pm.
