On 3 Mar 13 Deputy Sheriff Hunter issued a
citation to Amy A. Ketchum, age 40, 4330 State Route 26, Marietta,
for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in
December 2012. Deputy Hunter stopped Ms. Ketchum on State Route
60 near Arends Ridge Road in Muskingum Township.
On 3 Mar 13 Linda Lazear, age 72, 40 Townhall
Road, Marietta, reported she discovered one of her credit cards
was stolen after she noticed it was used to make several unauthorized
purchases. Ms. Lazear said a family friend, Timothy W. Evans,
age 26, 432 Fifth Street, Marietta, recently moved out of her
home and was in the vicinity of the locations where the unauthorized
charges were made. When questioned by Deputy Sheriff Holbert,
Mr. Evans initially claimed he had permission to use the card
but later admitted that he excessively used the card for purchases
probably not approved by Ms. Lazear. Additionally, Deputy Holbert
viewed security footage of Mr. Evans using the card for purchases
at multiple locations. Consequently, Mr. Evans was arrested
on a felony charge of theft from the elderly. The total of the
unauthorized purchases made by Mr. Evans is in excess of $2,000.
On 3 Mar 13 Deputy Sheriff McPeek and the Stockport
and Wesley fire departments responded to a fire at the residence
of Samantha Sampson, age 27, at 42 Haas Drive, Stockport. The
fire started in the chimney of a wood burning stove in an addition
to the singlewide trailer and caused moderate damage to the
back wall and ceiling of the addition. Neither Ms. Sampson nor
her three children were injured in the blaze.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Kenneth Ray Rogers, age 25, 802 ½ Front
Street, Marietta, for domestic violence, a felony. Rogers was
arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 3 Mar 13 at 1:20 pm.
Roger Dean Clevenger, age 52, 19483 McFarland
Road, Macksburg, for breach of recognizance and for disorderly
conduct by intoxication, both misdemeanors. Clevenger was arrested
in Beverly by Sgt. Anderson of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar
13 at 9:27 pm.
