On 21 Feb 13 the L-A Fire Department transported Jordan D. Stiers, age 26, 915 Righteous Ridge Road, Waterford, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment following an accident at Morgan Mechanical at 11105 State Route 60, Lowell. Mr. Stiers was pulling a large piece of steel off the forks of a forklift when he stumbled backwards. When Mr. Stiers fell the steel, weighing approximately 200 pounds, fell on his right knee. On 21 Feb 13 Deputy Sheriff Hunter issued a minor misdemeanor citation to Edward L. Sayger III, age 32, 193 Fourth Street, Lowell, for disorderly conduct. As Mr. Sayger’s girlfriend attempted to depart his residence, he impeded her progress multiple times, leading to an argument. Thereafter, Mr. Sayger repeatedly interrupted Deputy Hunter as he attempted to conduct interviews.

A new scam recently surfaced through a fax machine at a local business this month. The fax indicated the solicitor was attempting to locate a beneficiary to claim a large inheritance and to place the inheritance in their bank account. The solicitor claimed the scam required no money up front and that the beneficiary would receive a percentage of the inheritance. The fax is likely the first step in a scam to acquire additional personal and financial information from the victim. It is recommended that any email or fax containing similar information be destroyed.
