On 9 Feb 13 Sgt. Mankins and Deputy Sheriff Augenstein responded to a dispute between passengers from two vehicles in the vicinity of the 2000 block of Cats Creek Road in Lowell. Teya Bennett, age 18, 135 Vanfossen Road, Lowell, along with her mother and boyfriend were patrolling the area in search of Kurtis M. Walters, age 19, 1455 East Branch Road, Lowell, who they believed was operating his vehicle while intoxicated. Later confronted by his mother at a residence on Main Street, Mr. Walters became belligerent and shoved her. Ms. Bennett then stepped between the two, at which point Mr. Walters repeatedly shoved her in the chest and against a wall. Ms. Bennett stated she was fearful that if the assault continued Mr. Walters would cause her further harm. Mr. Walters had a strong odor of alcohol and admitted consuming multiple beers. A passenger in Mr. Walters’ vehicle was found along Cats Creek Road and also appeared intoxicated. Mary L. Pasco, age 51, 306 Third Street Apt. B, Lowell, said she consumed several beers that afternoon with Mr. Walters. Based on their investigation, Deputy Augenstein arrested Mr. Walters for underage consumption of alcohol and domestic violence. Ms. Pasco was arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication and possession of marijuana after a small bag of marijuana was found in her pocket. At the Washington County Jail Mr. Walters tested .147 BAC and Ms. Pasco .017 BAC.
