On 5 Jan 13 Deputy Sheriff Huffer issued a citation to Gregory S. Williams, age 37, 1645 Congress Road, Belpre, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in October 2012. Deputy Huffer stopped Mr. Williams on State Route 7 near milepost thirty-three in Newport Township.

On 5 Jan 13 Deputy Sheriff Huffer issued a citation to Geoffery A. Grum, age 22, 440 D.A.V. Road, Whipple, for operating a vehicle without a front license plate. Deputy Huffer stopped Mr. Grum on State Route 7 near milepost twenty-seven in Marietta.

On 5 Jan 13 Deputy Sheriff Holbert and the Barlow and Wesley fire departments responded to a garage fire on the property of Dennis Copeland, age 47, at 1380 Whealdon Road, Cutler. Mr. Copeland was working on a 1967 Camaro belonging to a friend when the engine compartment caught fire and spread to the structure. The garage and numerous tools, a riding mower, a lawn mower and a hydraulic lift were a total loss. The vehicle’s owner estimates the car was worth over $50,000. The fire does not appear suspicious but the Fire Marshal was contacted to conduct additional followup.

On 5 Jan 13 three witnesses reported hearing what sounded like a suspect breaking into the gas station at 9731 State Route 555, Cutler. Shortly after the initial noise the suspect exited the building and sped away in a vehicle driven by another individual. It appears the only items stolen were approximately ten cartons of cigarettes. This case remains under investigation (208).

On 5 Jan 13 Deputy Sheriff McPeek arrested Paul S. Pasco, age 50, 107 Third Street, Lowell, for .17 breath OVI, driving under an FRA suspended license, for possessing an open container of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt. Stopped on State Route 60 in Lowell, Mr. Pasco’s vehicle had only one operable headlight. Mr. Pasco’s vehicle also had severe damage to the hood and front driver side fender and the driver side window was broken. Unaware how his vehicle was damaged, Mr. Pasco admitted drinking at a friend’s home that evening. Mr. Pasco was unsteady on his feet and had difficulty following instructions for field sobriety tests. Located inside the vehicle were two empty beer cans of Busch Light and a case of Old Milwaukee Light. At the Washington County Jail Mr. Pasco tested .227 BAC.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Chad Wayne Williams, age 31, 4492 Anderson Road, Fleming, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Williams was arrested near milepost twenty on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 13 at 12:57 am.

Joshua David Reynolds, age 40, 712 Florence Street, Belpre, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Reynolds was arrested on Florence Street by Patrolman Heddleston of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 13 at 9:24 pm.

Paul Samuel Pasco, age 50, 107 Third Street, Lowell, for OVI, driving under an FRA suspended license, for possessing an open container of alcohol and not wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Pasco was arrested near Lowell by Deputy Sheriff McPeek and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jan 13 at 11:47 pm.
