On 22 Sep 12 Sgt. Mankins issued a citation to William J. Scherer, age 40, 6435 County Road 4, Pedro, OH, for driving under a suspended license and for traveling 68 mph in a 55 mph zone. Sgt. Mankins stopped Mr. Scherer on State Route 7 near Leith Run in Grandview Township.

On 22 Sep 12 a seventeen year old Lowell resident was traveling northbound on State Route 60 when he struck a deer in the vicinity of house number 14960. The collision caused functional damage to the teenager’s Honda sedan and was towed from the scene. The teenager was uninjured (910).

On 22 Sep 12 Eric W. Drake, age 44, 1225 County House Lane, Marietta, reported at some point during the past four days an unknown suspect(s) entered a trailer he is renovating at 3820 Bells Run Road, Newport. Stolen from the trailer were a seventeen inch television, an air compressor, air hoses, a rifle, a saw, two nail guns and a Dewalt combo set. The value of the stolen goods is approximately $1,400. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 22 Sep 12 a nine year old Little Hocking resident and a nine year old Marietta resident were transported to Camden Clark Hospital after the two collided head on while riding motorcycles in a field on Maze Road in Belpre. While the Marietta resident was released after receiving treatment for minor injuries to his left knee and hand, the Little Hocking resident was being transferred to Children’s Hospital in Columbus. He suffered a broken nose, broken tooth and two breaks on his right femur. The two children were wearing helmets but were not wearing other protective equipment (507).

On 22 Sep 12 a Belpre resident reported he was on his way home from work when he observed a fire at an illegal dumpsite near 12000 Veto Road, Belpre. The Warren Fire Department responded and extinguished the blaze. The cause of the fire is unknown (790).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Howard Michael Gayheart, age 39, 39 McVicar Lane, Vincent, for criminal damaging, a misdemeanor. Gayheart was arrested on State Route 7 by Sgt. Anderson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 12 at 12:44 am.

Kyle Jay Forshey, age 27, 521 Sawyer Boulevard Apt. 810, Columbus, for driving under a suspended license, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Forshey was arrested on US 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 12 at 4:11 am.

Alex J. Handschumacher, age 34, 10 Browns Road Apt. 2B, Marietta, for a felony charge of theft and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing. Handschumacher was arrested on Front Street by Patrolman Wright of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 12 at 6:17 am.

Michael P. Hollingsworth, age 33, 712 Franklin Avenue, Belpre, for a felony charge of theft and for misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and failure to appear. Hollingsworth was arrested on Front Street by Patrolman Wright of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 12 at 6:46 am.

David Aaron Hansen, age 35, 832 Ridge Street, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Hansen was arrested on Ridge Street by Patrolman Hilverding of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Sep 12 at 3:20 pm.
