On 21 Sep 12 a sixteen year old New Matamoras
resident was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment
to a prescription drug overdose. The teenager, who is expected
to fully recover, said he ingested the pills because he was
upset over his girlfriend breaking up with him (126).
On 21 Sep 12 the driver of a tan Ford Ranger
was backing to a gasoline pump at Byer’s in Newport at
31875 State Route 7 when he/she struck the pump with the rear
driver’s side of the truck. The driver then immediately
fled from the scene (1184).
On 21 Sep 12 Edward L. Sayger III, age 31,
193 Fourth Street, Lowell, reported his live-in girlfriend,
Vanessa Sciance, age 26, became violent during an argument around
3 am. Mr. Sayger said Ms. Sciance threw items around their home,
scratched him, head butted him and bit him. Acknowledging she
may have scratched Mr. Sayger, Ms. Sciance could not provide
an explanation for the bite mark on her boyfriend’s neck.
Based on his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested Ms.
Sciance for domestic violence and transported her to the Washington
On 21 Sep 12 Denice Carver-Antill, age 40,
5195 Warren Chapel Road, Marietta, reported she was away from
her residence between 2 pm and 6 pm and during that timeframe
an unknown suspect(s) entered her home and stole her recently
filled prescription bottles of Vicodin and Flexeril. This case
remains under investigation (507).
On 21 Sep 12 Richard Tingler, age 64, 14975
State Route 60, Lowell, reported he was on the second floor
of his residence when he noticed an unknown male and an unknown
female loading items from his first floor garage into a Ford
Explorer. Mr. Tingler confronted the pair with a handgun, after
which time the suspects begged him to not phone the police and
then departed at a high rate of speed. Lt. Rhodes and Deputy
Sheriffs Metts and Simmons later located the suspects, Gerald
R. Erb, age 41, and Jamie Hoy, age 33, at their residence at
149 Warner Street, Marietta. Mr. Erb and Ms. Hoy claimed they
believed the residence was abandoned and told Mr. Tingler they
would return property they stole the previous day. Mr. Erb and
Ms. Hoy were arrested for breaking and entering and transported
to the Washington County Jail.
On 21 Sep 12 Terry I. Ramsey, age 47, 4931
School House Road, Little Hocking, reported he recently discovered
a Smith & Wesson .357 magnum was missing from a closet.
Mr. Ramsey was unsure when the weapon was stolen because he
does not often use the closet. This case remains under investigation
On 21 Sep 12 Deputy Sheriff Reeder issued a
citation to Danny Williams, age 38, 99 Beam Road, The Plains,
OH, for driving under a suspended license and for operating
a vehicle with license plates that expired in January 2012.
Deputy Reeder stopped Mr. Williams on State Route 7 near milepost
fourteen in Warren Township.
On 21 Sep 12 Deputy Sheriff Hunter issued a
citation to Michael D. Wright, age 32, 2420 E. Hooppole Ridge
Road, McConnelsville, for illegal passing. Deputy Hunter stopped
Mr. Wright after he nearly struck his cruiser while overtaking
a vehicle on State Route 60 near milepost seventeen in Waterford
On 21 Sep 12 Deputy Sheriff Hunter issued a
citation to Stacy R. Robinson Jr., age 25, 4150 Sugar Run Road,
Marietta, for driving under a suspended license and for having
an inoperable license plate light. Deputy Hunter stopped Mr.
Robinson on State Route 7 near Bender Road in Warren Township.
On 21 Sep 12 Deputy Sheriff McKee issued a
citation to Nichole E. Wix, age 22, 428 Windsor Drive, Mineral
Wells, WV, for driving under a suspended license and for operating
a vehicle with fictitious plates. Deputy Reeder stopped Ms.
Wix on US 50 in Belpre Township.
SUSPECT IN MULTIPLE BURGLARIES
Fingerprints obtained at a crime scene in late
April of this year led to the identification of a suspect responsible
for multiple burglaries in Washington County throughout the
year. Brandon Walters, age 29, 715 Greene Street Apt. A, Marietta,
was arrested without incident following a traffic stop on Sandhill
Road Thursday afternoon. Following his arrest Mr. Walters admitted
entering his mother’s residence on 27 Apr 12, forcing
open a small safe and stealing $1,800 from the safe.
Walters is believed to have committed more
than a half dozen other burglaries and breaking and enterings
and was wearing shoes that matched footprints at two other crime
scenes. Information in the additional cases will be forwarded
to the Prosecutor’s Office for presentation to a grand

Leilani Lee Fortney, age 34, 193 Fox Haven
Drive, Marietta, for passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Fortney
was arrested at Go-Mart by Deputy Sheriff Metts and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 21 Sep 12 at 8:25 am.
Vanessa Lynn Sciance, age 26, 111 ½
Montgomery Street, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
Sciance was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Reeder
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Sep 12 at
Alexis Rae Carpenter, age 21, 616 Riverview
Drive, Parkersburg, for violating the terms of her probation,
a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 21 Sep 12 at 2:55 pm.
Gerald Russell Erb, age 41, 149 Warner Street,
Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Erb was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 21 Sep 12 at 3:00 pm.
Jamie Ann Hoy, age 33, 149 Warner Street, Marietta,
for breaking and entering, a felony. Hoy was arrested at her
residence by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 21 Sep 12 at 5:30 pm.
Curtis Jay Noel, age 51, 255 Arends Ridge Road,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Noel turned himself in to Corrections Officers and was processed
into the Washington County Jail on 21 Sep 12 at 6:57 pm.
