On 31 Aug 12 Deputy Sheriff McKee requested
a summons for an eleven year old Marietta resident to appear
in Juvenile Court for being delinquent. While his mother was
asleep the juvenile removed the keys from her purse and stole
her vehicle. The juvenile returned the vehicle after receiving
a phone call from his mother and reportedly struck a mailbox
while speaking to her.
On 31 Aug 12 Violet Lauer, age 52, 240 Lauer
Road, Whipple, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s)
stole two batteries from a hay bailing tractor in her field
around milepost five on State Route 821. This case remains under
On 31 Aug 12 an employee of Conley Energy,
807 Farson Street, Belpre, reported at some point during the
past day an ATV was stolen from a fenced and locked storage
area on Hickman Road in Waterford. This case remains under investigation
On 31 Aug 12 Michael G. Mills, age 62, 380
Federal Road, Little Hocking, reported he recently evicted a
tenant after selling a trailer to another individual and the
evicted tenant took a range, refrigerator, microwave and outdoor
light without permission. Lt. Stackpole subsequently determined
the refrigerator and range were not included in the sale of
the trailer to Mr. Mills and that the home’s previous
owner allowed the tenant to use the items until he no longer
needed them. The previous owner agreed to return the appliances
due to the misunderstanding. As for the other items, the tenant
said he purchased them while he lived at the residence. Consequently,
Lt. Stackpole closed this case as unfounded.
On 31 Aug 12 John Malthaner, age 80, 200 E.
Ninth Street, Williamstown, was attempting to negotiate a tight
left turn in the lot of C&C Dodge at 1305 Pike Street, Marietta,
when he struck the front passenger side bumper of Toyota Yaris
owned by the dealership. The collision caused minor damage to
Mr. Malthaner’s Toyota Prius and to the Yaris (912).
On 31 Aug 12 Sgt. Anderson arrested Mario E.
Melem, age 53, 1540 Milner Road, Waterford, for violating the
terms of a protection order. Mr. Melem’s ex-wife reported
Mr. Melem sent her an email and two text messages in July and
another text message on 31 Aug. Questioned about the messages,
Mr. Melem admitted sending them after he was served with the
On 31 Aug 12 Thomas Turner, age 58, 18990 State
Route 339, Waterford, reported sometime overnight an unknown
suspect(s) cut the locks off four units at a storage facility
he owns at 18971 State Route 339. Inventorying their property,
two of the owners found no items missing. However, Mr. Turner
said a table and dresser were missing from his unit and the
other renter said a number of collectible coins were stolen
from his unit. This case remains under investigation (1010).

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Curtis Jay Noel, age 50, 255 Arends Ridge Road,
Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order and
telephone harassment, both misdemeanors. Noel was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 12 at 3:05 am.
David William Hart, age 32, 2236 State Route
83, Beverly, for two misdemeanor counts of contempt of court.
Hart was arrested in Beverly Mayor’s Court by the Beverly
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 31 Aug 12 at 12:11 pm.
Albert James Morrison, age 27, 407 Warren Street,
Marietta, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Morrison
was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Chapman
of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 12 at 1:18 pm.
Mario Emilio Melem, age 53, 1540 Milner Road,
Waterford, for violating the terms of a protection order, a
misdemeanor. Melem was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Anderson
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 31 Aug 12 at 5:30 pm.
Todd Matthew Allman, age 41, 16173 State Route
555, Cutler, for a felony charge of OVI and misdemeanor charges
of driving under and OVI suspended license and violating the
terms of his probation. Allman was arrested at the office of
Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 31 Aug 12 at 5:49 pm.
Charles Edward Haught III, age 28, 1000 Orchard
Street, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Haught
was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 31 Aug 12 at 10:34 pm.
