On 28 Aug 12 Sgt. Smeeks and the Warren Fire
Department responded to a structure fire on property owned by
Kenneth R. Tullius, age 56, at 20045 State Route 676, Marietta.
The fire appears to have originated in an electrical box in
the building Mr. Tullius uses for his cabinet making business.
Although the structure was severely damaged some of its contents
will be salvageable.
On 28 Aug 12 Gary Heniger, age 56, 183 Main
Street, Lowell, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s)
stole the hood off his Huskie riding lawnmower. This case remains
under investigation (610).
On 28 Aug 12 James Kehl, age 42, 2701 Lake
Road, Fleming, reported his lock, along with the locks of six
others, were removed with bolt cutters from storage units at
4645 State Route 339, Belpre. At this time the only items that
are believed to be missing are three of Mr. Kehl’s boxes
that contained DVDs. This case remains under investigation (1293).
On 28 Aug 12 Michelle Snyder, age 33, 1922
School House Road, Little Hocking, reported a camouflage hunting
blind, two chairs and a trail camera were stolen from her property
sometime between 20 Aug and 28 Aug. This case remains under
On 28 Aug 12 an employee of Lang’s Excavating,
19371 State Route 60, Waterford, reported when arrived at the
business that morning he noticed nearly all of their trucks
had been entered and a number of items were stolen from the
shop. Stolen from the business were 1,000 feet of welding wire,
100 feet of copper tubing and numerous tools. The business owner
believes the stolen items are worth $63,000. This case remains
under investigation (126, 292, 610, 953, 1090).
On 28 Aug 12 Deputy Sheriff Caltrider requested
a summons for Tabitha D. Way, age 30, 765 Warrior Drive, Vincent,
for passing bad checks. Twice in early July Ms. Way allowed
her boyfriend to write checks to Hickory Grove Market that were
returned for insufficient funds.
On 28 Aug 12 Deputy Sheriff McPeek requested
a summons for Toby A. Heiss, age 49, 273 Offenberger Road, Lowell,
for persistent disorderly conduct. For unknown reasons Mr. Heiss
has been antagonizing Tri-County Water at 998 Lowell Hill Road,
Waterford, for more than a year. On multiple occasions Mr. Heiss
harassed employees and blocked the right of way to a water tank.
Most recently, Mr. Heiss tampered with a power shut off switch
and again blocked the right of way.
On 28 Aug 12 Billie J. McKnight, age 51, 1125
Brownsville Road, New Matamoras, reported while she briefly
left an acquaintance unattended in her kitchen, the acquaintance
stole a bottle containing twenty-six Vicodin pills from her
purse. After contacting the suspect Ms. McKnight found the pill
bottle in her yard but it was missing nine pills. This case
remains under investigation (912).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jessica Jeanette Fritts, age 22, 317 Florence
Street, Belpre, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Fritts
was arrested at her residence by Patrolman Ruble of the Belpre
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 1:42 am.
David Allan Buckley, age 24, 511 Cherry Avenue,
Williamstown, for two misdemeanor counts of possession of drugs.
Buckley was arrested on Second Street by Patrolman McClelland
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 3:32 am.
Wayne Anthony Rhodes, age 23, 820 Mill Branch
Road, Belpre, for receiving stolen property, a felony. Rhodes
was arrested on Newberry Road by Lt. Gherke of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 7:25 pm.
Timothy James Newbrough, age 28, 848 Greene
Street, Marietta, for a felony charge of burglary and misdemeanor
charges of driving under a suspended license and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Newbrough was arrested on Greene Street
by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 9:45
Steven Eric Knotts, age 24, 233 Main Street,
Lowell, for breaking and entering, a felony. Knotts was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Hunter and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 11:09 pm.
Allen Jeffery Grigg, age 19, 27260 State Route
7, Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Grigg was
arrested in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Hunter and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 28 Aug 12 at 11:23 pm.
