On 11 Aug 12 an employee of Reynolds Landscaping, 323 Drag Strip Road, Belpre, reported at some point during the past day an unknown suspect(s) entered a building at the location, removed a floor safe and stole a van. The van and the empty safe were subsequently located in the 500 block of Drag Strip Road. The safe contained approximately $169. This case remains under investigation (592, 1010).

On 11 Aug 12 Sgt. Mankins investigated a report of a party involving underage drinking at 585 Pugh Road, Stockport. At the home, Sgt. Mankins questioned one of the residents, Logan Smith, age 18, who stated he invited several friends over while his parents were out of town on vacation. Mr. Smith admitted consuming beer and Jagermeister and tested .136 BAC. Consequently, Sgt. Mankins arrested Mr. Smith for underage consumption of alcohol and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 11 Aug 12 Maria Farnsworth, age 27, 1148 Big Run Road, Beverly, reported she was involved in a heated argument with her husband. Mrs. Farnsworth said no physical violence occurred and that she did not fear for her safety. As a result, Deputy Sheriff McConnell closed this case as unfounded.

On 11 Aug 12 Sgt. Mankins arrested Dakota A. Moneypenny, age 18, 440 Wentz Road, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol and theft and requested summonses for seventeen year old Fleming and Marietta residents to appear in Juvenile court on charges of delinquency by underage consumption of alcohol and theft. Traveling westbound on State Route 550 in Warren Township, Sgt. Mankins encountered a sign and construction barrels and cones that were placed across the roadway. At nearby Goodfellows Park Sgt. Mankins observed the suspects seated in a vehicle. The suspects all had an odor of alcohol and admitted consuming beer that evening. They also admitted stealing the construction items from Second and Butler streets in Marietta.

On 11 Aug 12 Richard Haught Sr., age 74, 513 Smith Street, Marietta, reported the remnants of a burnt trailer belonging to his son at the intersection of County Road 9 and Cow Run Road were stolen at some point during the past several weeks. Deputy Sheriff Simmons identified a suspect and later learned he was a friend of his great granddaughter. Richard Haught Jr., age 52, declined to pursue charges in the matter.

On 11 Aug 12 the Warren Fire Department transported Jackie Greenwalt, age 32, 902 Salster Road, Marietta, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to a severe laceration on her left ring finger. Mrs. Greenwalt was loading logs onto a hydraulic log splitter when she placed her hand between the log and the splitting wedge. Mrs. Greenwalt’s three year old daughter was operating the hydraulic lever and apparently initiated the splitter before her mother was prepared.

On 11 Aug 12 Allen W. Davis, age 52, 865 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, reported he was assaulted by his nephew, John R. Valentine, age 24. Mr. Valentine lives next door at 1005 Leith Run Road on property owned by Mr. Allen and was recently evicted. Angry over family issues that have been simmering for some time, Mr. Valentine erupted and attacked his uncle with a shovel. Questioned about the incident, Mr. Valentine admitted striking Mr. Davis once with the shovel. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Simmons arrested Mr. Valentine for assault and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 11 Aug 12 Misty Haught, age 36, 9 Walnut Street, Little Hocking, reported sometime since she last visited her storage building at 279 State Route 555, Little Hocking, on 14 Jul, an unknown suspect(s) entered the unit and stole a television, a computer tower and a baby monitor. The replacement value of the property is approximately $775. This case remains under investigation (1007).

On 11 Aug 12 Miranda Scoggan, age 24, 127 Greene Street Apt. B, Newport, reported she departed her residence at 10 am and when she returned at 4 pm she found a cheap piece of costume jewelry in place of her wedding and engagement ring. The stolen rings are worth an estimated $450. This case remains under investigation (107).

On 11 Aug 12 the owner of Triple H Storage, 153 Brooks Lane, Marietta, reported when he checked the storage units that afternoon he noticed the locks were cut off fifteen units. It is unknown what property is missing. Also at that location, the driver’s side window of a vehicle owned by Bian Guanwei, 215 Fifth Street, Marietta, was broken. This case remains under investigation (507).

On 11 Aug 12 Sgt. Mankins arrested Heaven D. Riley, age 20, 33 Butterfly Forrest, Washington, WV, for obstructing official business and possession of drugs. Ms. Riley provided false and misleading statements to Deputies and EMTs at the scene who responded to a report of a woman who was under the influence of drugs and behaving erratically. The reported victim is the mother of Ms. Riley’s boyfriend and she stated she did not want the victim to get in trouble. The victim did not require medical treatment. At the time of her arrest Ms. Riley was found in possession of three Xanax pills.

On 11 Aug 12 Deputy Sheriffs McConnell and Allender responded to a dispute at the residence of Tyler Ebra, age 21, at 20 Hickory Street, Lower Salem. Mr. Ebra suffered a scrape and a bite during a minor altercation with his girlfriend. He refused to pursue charges in the case.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Matthew Allen Burns, age 28, 2216 Highlands Road, San Pablo, CA, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Burns was arrested on Gates Avenue by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 1:55 am.

John Frederick Fisher, age 32, 2928 Altizer Road, Arnoldsburg, WV, for driving under a suspended license and for operating a vehicle with fictitious plates, both misdemeanors. Fisher was arrested on Interstate 77 near milepost twelve by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 2:15 am.

Logan Alexander Smith, age 18, 585 Pugh Road, Stockport, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 2:35 am.

Rachael Bernice Martin, age 28, 5380 Johnson Ridge Road, Waterford, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Martin was arrested at Marietta Memorial Hospital by Deputy Sheriff McKee and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 3:20 am.

Dakota Allen Moneypenny, age 18, 440 Wentz Road, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol and theft, both misdemeanors. Moneypenny was arrested at Goodfella’s Park by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 6:40 am.

John Roy Valentine, age 24, 1001 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, for assault, a misdemeanor. Valentine was arrested at 1005 Leith Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 4:56 pm.

Heaven Dawn Riley, age 20, 33 Butterfly Forrest, Washington, WV, for obstructing official business and possession of drugs, both misdemeanors. Riley was arrested on State Route 550 by Sgt. Mankins of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Aug 12 at 6:53 pm.
