On 5 Aug 12 Michael P. Pritt, age 32, PO Box 234, Powellton, WV, reported he was attending his niece’s birthday party at 233 Roberts Drive, Belpre, when a fracas transpired over the discipline of child at the party. Involving several individuals, the altercation reached a crescendo when one of the home’s residents produced a rifle. Questioned about the incident, the resident said the weapon was not loaded and he did not point the gun at anyone. He also said Mr. Pritt is larger than him and threatened to snap his neck. Lt. Stackpole is consulting the Law Director to determine what charges are warranted in the case.

On 5 Aug 12 the pastor of Friendship Ridge Church, 4485 Braun Road, Belpre, reported at some point during the past week an unknown suspect(s) entered a locked storage building on the church property and stole a Cub Cadet riding lawnmower, a weed eater and two full five gallon gas cans. The stolen items are valued at approximately $1,300. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 5 Aug 12 Sgt. Anderson responded to reports of an intoxicated driver on State Route 550. In the vicinity of milepost seventeen Sgt. Anderson observed the driver of a vehicle pass another vehicle on a double yellow line and conducted a traffic stop. When questioned, the driver of the vehicle, Duane E. Hough, age 37, 702 Electric Street, Scranton, PA, stated he was in a hurry to get home and later admitted consuming three beers in the past two hours. Detecting a strong odor of alcohol, Sgt. Anderson administered field sobriety tests, with Mr. Hough performing poorly as a result. Consequently, Sgt. Anderson arrested Mr. Hough for OVI and transported him to the Washington County Jail. Mr. Hough was also charged with traffic offenses of driving under a suspended license, operating a vehicle with expired plates and passing in a hazardous zone. At the jail Mr. Hough tested .227 BAC.

On 5 Aug 12 Connie S. Hagar, age 47, 575 Michaelis Road, Marietta, reported when she exited her home at 1 pm to tend to her animals she noticed the driver side window of her Pontiac Sunbird was completely shattered and the windshield was broken in four places. This case remains under investigation (1104).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Duane Edward Hough, age 37, 302 Putnam Avenue, Marietta, for OVI, driving under a suspended license, passing in a hazardous zone and for operating a vehicle with expired plates, all misdemeanors. Hough was arrested near milepost eighteen on State Route 550 by Sgt. Anderson of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug 12 at 7:25 pm.

Domanick Joseph Haught, age 19, 833 Second Street Apt. 3, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Haught was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Aug 12 at 7:50 pm.
