On 21 Jul 12 the Beverly Fire Department transported Janetta Long, age 43, 200 Pennock Drive Lot 49, Beverly, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to first and second degree burns to her face and upper chest. Having difficulty lighting a wood fire in an outside stove, Ms. Long poured lamp oil on the logs. The fire flashed, inflicted the burns and singed the right side of Ms. Long’s hair, the hair on her arm and her right eyebrow.

On 21 Jul 12 Jean Kincaid, age 35, 118 Second Street, Lower Salem, reported an acquaintance threatened her outside her residence earlier in the afternoon. Deputy Sheriff Holbert determined Ms. Kincaid and the alleged suspect have been involved in an ongoing feud and advised them both to cease contacting each other. Determining no physical threats were made, Deputy Holbert closed this case as unfounded.

On 21 Jul 12 Raymond Grandon, age 87, 13825 State Route 550, Fleming, reported he owns property at 319 McGill Road, Fleming, and when he was at the location to mow his discovered a damaged door knob on a building. Mr. Grandon was unsure if any property was missing. This case remains under investigation (208).

On 21 Jul 12 Deputy Sheriff McPeek requested summonses for a seventeen year old Macksburg resident and a sixteen year old Whipple resident to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by possession of marijuana. Responding to a report of two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot of Lowell Elementary School, Deputy McPeek noticed a strong odor of burnt marijuana in the juveniles’ vehicle. A subsequent consensual search by Deputy McPeek yielded a bag of marijuana with a mass of approximately 11 grams.

On 21 Jul 12 Justin D. Barnes, age 23, 122 Tennis Center Drive Apt. 3, Marietta, reported he believes a family member stole a .45 handgun from where he stored it at his godfather’s residence at 2760 Pleasant Ridge Road, Marietta. The weapon was later recovered by the Marietta City Police Department during a traffic stop on the alleged suspect. This case remains under investigation (790).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Corey Lee Smearman, age 24, 111 Montgomery Street, Marietta, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Smearman was arrested on State Route 676 in Little Hocking by Lt. Stackpole of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 3:59 am.

Braden Garrett Wilfong, age 21, 115 Ninth Street, Williamstown, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Wilfong was arrested near milepost fifteen on State Route 676 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 10:15 am.

Jeffrey Shane Wittekind, age 24, 316 Gilman Avenue, Marietta, for theft and for nonsupport of dependants, both misdemeanors. Wittekind was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 5:42 pm.

Reba Shandel Gammons-Cook, age 21, 366 Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, for obstructing official business, a misdemeanor. Gammons-Cook was arrested on Alderman Street by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 7:36 pm.

Clinton Andrew Barnes, age 21, 366 Arends Ridge Road, Marietta, for receiving stolen property, a felony. Barnes was arrested on Alderman Street by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 8:39 pm.

Sean Michael Kirby, age 21, 360 Grand River Drive, Ada, MI, for possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding, both misdemeanors. Kirby was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jul 12 at 10:54 pm.
