On 18 Jul 12 Lori Wriston, age 52, 3395 State Route 26, Marietta, reported she was away from her residence for half an hour around noon that day and during that period an unknown suspect(s) entered her home and stole a Toshiba flat screen television. This case remains under investigation (790).

On 18 Jul 12 Trevor R. Niceswanger, age 18, 40 Railroad Street, Whipple, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) siphoned ten gallons of gasoline and stole a pair of Oakley sunglasses, a tackle box and a fishing reel from his truck. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $310. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 18 Jul 12 a Newport Township trustee reported that afternoon a sign belonging to the township was stolen from the side of Reynolds Run Road near the Independence Township line. This case remains under investigation (200).

On 18 Jul 12 Lt. Rhodes arrested Michael R. Martin, age 21, Marietta, for OVI, driving left of center and possession of drugs. Responding to a report of an impaired driver in the Newport area, Lt. Rhodes stopped Mr. Martin on State Route 7 after observing his vehicle travel completely into the oncoming lane. Lt. Rhodes noticed Mr. Martin’s speech was slurred and that his movements were slow and lethargic. After Lt. Rhodes observed a marijuana roach in the vehicle’s open console, Mr. Martin admitted smoking marijuana earlier in the evening. A subsequent search of Mr. Martin’s vehicle yielded a plastic bag of marijuana that weighed 6.1 ounces (175 grams).

On 18 Jul 12 Trisha Miller, age 25, 7121 State Route 676, Stockport, reported she believes Christopher Byrd, age 24, 9626 State Route 555, Cutler, stole a generator from her property. Mrs. Miller said Mr. Byrd is living in a camper in her front yard and had his vehicle parked near where the generator was located. When Mr. Byrd departed in his vehicle Mrs. Miller stated the generator was missing. Investigating the theft, Sgt. Hornbeck located the stolen generator at the home of a relative of Mr. Byrd. Mr. Byrd admitted taking the generator but claimed Mrs. Miller gave him the item in exchange for money owed to him. The following day Mr. Byrd was arrested for theft by Deputy Sheriff Maze and transported to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Nancy Lovetta Hutchison, age 24, 1109 Carlisle Avenue Apt. A, Cambridge, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Hutchison was arrested on State Route 821 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Jul 12 at 12:26 am.

Roger Aaron Adams, age 646 Phillips Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Adams was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Jul 12 at 3:05 am.

Christopher Ryan Reed, age 22, 1153 Clement Avenue, Belpre, for obstruction of justice, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Reed was arrested on Hocking Road by Patrolman Freed of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Jul 12 at 5:50 am.

Robert Leroy Metheney Jr., age 33, 110 Theis Avenue, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Metheney was arrested at the office of Probation Officer P. Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Jul 12 at 1:45 pm.

Michael Richard Martin, age 21, Marietta, for OVI, driving left of center and possession of drugs, all misdemeanors. Martin was arrested on State Route 7 by Lt. Rhodes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Jul 12 at 11:54 pm.
