On 14 Jul 12 Lt. Rhodes and Deputy Sheriffs
Metts and Simmons responded to an alarm at Dollar General at
185 Adams Street, Lowell. Surveillance footage shows a masked
man entering the store and exiting after the alarm activated.
At this time it is unknown if any property was stolen. This
case remains under investigation.
On 14 Jul 12 the owner of Gutberlet Auto Sales,
187 Main Street, Lowell, reported sometime overnight an unknown
suspect(s) broke a window to gain access to the business through
a rear door. In this case as well, it is unknown if anything
was stolen from the business. This case remains under investigation
(507, 592, 790).
On 14 Jul 12 Samantha S. Bohl, age 20, 1225
Weppler Road, Lowell, reported she was doing dishes around 2
pm when an unknown male appeared outside her window. A short
time later, as Ms. Bohl was phoning for help, the suspect attempted
to tamper with a bedroom window. The suspect then reportedly
fled in an unknown direction. This case remains under investigation
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Lucas Alan Heiss, age 32, 17 Kings Road Lot
14, Parkersburg, for automobile theft and for two counts of
burglary, all felonies. Heiss was picked up at the Huttonsville
(WV) Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Jul 12 at 3:13
Brandon Michael Schmidt, age 22, 104 Riley
Drive Apt. 10, Marietta, for unauthorized use of a vehicle,
breach of recognizance and for contempt for failing to pay fines,
all misdemeanors. Schmidt was arrested at his residence by Patrolman
Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 14 Jul 12 at 5:22 pm.
John Aaron Givens, age 31, 100B Linwood Avenue,
Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Givens was arrested
on Putnam Street by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
14 Jul 12 at 7:41 pm.
Daniel Richard Sampson, age 44, 238 Third Street,
Lowell, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Sampson was arrested at his residence by Lt. Rhodes of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 Jul 12 at 8:40 pm.
