On 7 Jun 12 Paul L. Curtis, age 80, 1380 County House Lane, Marietta, reported he departed his home at 8 that morning and when he returned at 2:30 pm he discovered his Craftsman riding lawnmower was missing from under a tarp beside his porch. This case remains under investigation (107).

On 7 Jul 12 Donna J. Morgan, age 67, 2969 State Route 339, Belpre, reported she and her son were away from their residence between 1 Jun and 5 Jun and at some point during that period an unknown suspect(s) entered her home. Ms. Morgan said the suspect(s) moved two turtles from an aquarium to a bucket in a hallway and stole three large plastic cups that contained loose change. This case remains under investigation (790).

On 7 Jun 12 a member of the Newport Junior Athletic Association reported sometime between 4 Jun and 6 Jun an unknown suspect(s) broke a window on a door to the gym at the old Newport Elementary School and spray painted profanities on a porta john outside the school. This case remains under investigation (1184).

SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR SEX OFFENSE

This morning Major Crimes Task Force Agents arrested a forty-seven year old man on a charge related to the sexual abuse of two young females in 2011. Information received the previous day indicated Wilburn E. Bever allowed six year old and eight year old females to touch him inappropriately at his residence at 378 Morris Loop Road, Marietta, several times during the summer of 2011. Under questioning, Mr. Bever admitted allowing the juveniles to touch him inappropriately.

Mr. Bever remains incarcerated without bond on a third degree felony charge of gross sexual imposition and is scheduled to appear in Marietta Municipal Court Friday afternoon.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michelle Louise King, age 26, 217 Charleston Drive, Ripley, WV, for .08 breath OVI and for having an inoperable headlight, both misdemeanors. King was arrested on Third Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Jun 12 at 1:22 am.

Alexis Rae Carpenter, age 20, 616 Riverview Drive, Belmont, WV, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 10:48 am.

Wilburn Eric Bever, age 47, 378 Morris Loop Road, Marietta, for gross sexual imposition, a felony. Bever was arrested at his residence by Detective Mayle of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 11:17 am.

Amber Nicole Hughes, age 19, 138 Grant Street, Clarksburg, WV, for theft, a misdemeanor. Hughes was arrested at K-Mart by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 12:48 pm.

Allen Dale Ball, age 30, 2187 School House Road, Little Hocking, for burglary, a felony. Ball was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Metts and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 2:03 pm.

Thomas William Gaughan, age 25, 115 Dudley Avenue, Marietta, for two felony counts of violating the terms of his probation. Gaughan was arrested at the Adult Probation Office by Deputy Sheriff Huffer and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 3:32 pm.

Stephanie Michelle Dotson, age 27, 803 Huggins Drive, Williamstown, for two counts of theft and for two counts of criminal trespassing, all misdemeanors. Dotson was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 4:39 pm.

Glen Edward Church, age 49, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Church was arrested on Pike Street by Patrolman Sury of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Jun 12 at 9:11 pm.
