On 3 Jun 12 Sgt. Mankins issued a citation to Michael K. Thompson, age 50, 37116 Goose Run Road, Dexter City, for traveling 66 mph in a 50 mph zone. Sgt. Mankins stopped Mr. Thompson on US 50 near milepost 8.5 in Belpre Township.

On 3 Jun 12 a fifty-five year old Newport resident reported his thirteen year old daughter left their home without permission at some point during night and left a note stating she would return at the end of the summer. The teenager, along with another juvenile from Marietta who left home without permission, was located at a residence in Belpre. Charges against the juvenile for running away are likely forthcoming (200).

On 3 Jun 12 Lt. Norman, Sgt. Mankins and Deputy Sheriff Underwood responded to a domestic dispute that possibly involved a firearm at 775 Turkey Hollow Road, Cutler. While en route to the scene Sgt. Mankins was notified that the suspect, Christopher A. Morris, age 25, was driving a vehicle in his direction. Shortly after Sgt. Mankins stopped on Welch Road with his emergency lights activated, Mr. Morris approached in his vehicle and sideswiped Sgt. Mankins’ cruiser. Questioned after exiting his vehicle, Mr. Morris said the dispute at his residence was between his divorced parents and that he was driving his father home at the request of his mother. Mr. Morris appeared intoxicated and was charged with OVI by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. In regards to the firearm, Mr. Morris said it was their common practice to fire a .22 rifle prior to letting dogs out of the house in order to scare away coyotes and admitted he fired the rifle across Welch Road before leaving in his vehicle. As a result of the incident, Deputy Underwood arrested Mr. Morris for using a weapon while intoxicated, discharging a weapon across a roadway and failure to yield to a public safety vehicle. Mr. Morris’ mother said at no time during the dispute did she fear for her safety or was threatened.

On 3 Jun 12 Kevin Pierson, age 29, 2150 McDonald Road, Vincent, reported his wallet, which contained several gift cards, his debit card and other personal effects, was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at the baseball fields at 95 Federal Road, Little Hocking, between 8 pm and 9 pm. This case remains under investigation (912).

On 3 Jun 12 a seventeen year old Marietta resident reported he was away from his residence on Belavista Drive between 2 pm and 11 pm and during that timeframe a small safe was stolen from his bedroom. The teenager stated the safe contained a gold diamond ring and $550. This case remains under investigation (910).

On 3 Jun 12 Deputy Sheriff McKee arrested Earl W. Moore Jr., age 58, 615 Dalzell Road, Whipple, for a felony charge of domestic violence. Previously convicted of domestic violence, Mr. Moore choked his sixteen year old stepson during an argument at their home the previous afternoon. Mr. Moore’s assault on the juvenile continued until another of his teenage stepsons pulled him away.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Anthony Dawson, age 23, 49505 State Route 7, New Matamoras, for OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both misdemeanors. Dawson was arrested on Pike Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jun 12 at 3:32 am.

Delbert Ray Hall, age 29, 284 Drain Road, Mineral Wells, WV, for criminal trespassing and for two counts of theft, all misdemeanors. Hall was arrested at Wal-Mart by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jun 12 at 5:57 pm.

Earl William Moore Jr., age 58, 615 Dalzell Road, Whipple, for domestic violence, a felony. Moore turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff McKee and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jun 12 at 10:24 pm.

Christopher A. Morris, age 25, 775 Turkey Hollow Road, Cutler, for using a weapon while intoxicated, for improperly discharging a firearm and for failing to obey the right of way, all misdemeanors. Morris was arrested on Welch Road in Cutler by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jun 12 at 11:41 pm.
