On 25 May 12 Jennifer Eddy, age 35, 291 Seevers Road, Newport, reported her sister in law phoned her that morning and said she saw her cat lying in her driveway with an arrow sticking out of it. Ms. Eddy found her cat in a barn and rushed it to the veterinarian for treatment. The animal’s condition is unknown. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 25 May 12 Stephanie McGrath, age 56, 250 McGrath Road, Macksburg, reported at some point during the past two days an unknown suspect(s) entered a fenced area where the oil well is on her property and stole two pump jack weights. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 25 May 12 Deputies and Detectives responded to the scene of a suicide attempt in Marietta. The Warren Fire Department transported the forty-nine year old victim to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to a severe laceration to his neck. He later succumbed to his injury. Investigators corroborated a witness’ statement with evidence at the scene and concluded no foul play was involved.

On 25 May 12 Lt. Gherke requested a warrant for Jeffrey A. Joy, age 42, LKA 109 Lockhart Street, Belpre, for violating the terms of a protection order. That morning Mr. Joy went to his estranged wife’s home, pounded on the front door and yelled at his wife. Mr. Joy denied visiting his wife’s residence but multiple witnesses observed him in the area at the time of the incident.

On 25 May 12 Sgt. Mankins issued a citation to John Ratzer, age 67, 13575 State Route 676, Waterford, for traveling 51 mph in a 35 mph zone. Sgt. Mankins stopped Mr. Ratzer on Gilman Street near Groves Avenue in Pioneer Township.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Evelyn Kay Price, age 32, 444 Park Avenue, Charleston, WV, for violating the terms of her probation, a felony. Price was picked up at the South Central Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 11:45 am.

Robin Jerome Richards, age 24, 4076 State Route 339, Belpre, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Richards was arrested on State Route 339 by Sgt. Smeeks of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 12:26 pm.

Brian Lee Miller, age 47, 105 Franklin Street, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor. Miller was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 2:27 pm.

Frank Joseph Nichols Jr., age 29, 133 West High Street, Salem, WV, for possession of drugs, a felony. Nichols was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 3:22 pm.

Shyanne Ranae Nystedt, age 39, 108 Mound Street, Elyria, OH, for OVI, speeding and for being in possession of an open container of alcohol, all misdemeanors. Nystedt was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 7:31 pm.

Brandon Joshua Blevins, age 22, 36 Haught Street, Parkersburg, for OVI, theft, operating a vehicle without a license, speeding and contempt of a court order, all misdemeanors. Blevins was arrested at the Frontier Shopping Center by Patrolman Estes of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 May 12 at 8:41 pm.
