On 17 Apr 12 Deputy Sheriff McConnell and the Salem Fire Department responded to a fire in a chicken coop at 4680 Highland Ridge Road, Lowell. The property owner, Kenneth Mendenhall, age 57, stated he was smoking a cigar while adding hay to the chicken coop and believes ash fell from the cigar and ignited the hay. Mr. Mendenhall said there were no chickens inside the coop and that the fire caused approximately $100 in damage.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Brandon Joshua Blevins, age 22, 36 Haught Street, Parkersburg, for OVI, speeding and for operating a vehicle without a license, all misdemeanors. Blevins was arrested near milepost three on State Route 821 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Apr 12 at 1:45 am.

Tammy Hall, age 42, 7818 Chase Road, Albany, OH, for theft, a misdemeanor. Hall turned herself in to Patrolman Ellenwood at the Marietta City Police Department and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Apr 12 at 8:27 am.

Mark Everett Swaney, age 45, 145 Grove Avenue, Marietta, for aggravated menacing and for violating the terms of his probation, both misdemeanors. Swaney turned himself in to Patrolman Heddleston at the Marietta City Police Department and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Apr 12 at 11:25 am.

Cody Jay Wriston, age 19, 808 Warren Street, Marietta, for underage possession of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Wriston turned himself in to Probation Officer Farrell and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Apr 12 at 2:57 pm.
