On 4 Apr 12 Sgt. Anderson and the Barlow Fire Department responded to a garage fire on property owned by Carl R. Turner, age 72, 5580 Oak Hill Road, Stockport. The fire caused significant damage to the structure and to the property inside, including a tractor, an ATV and a generator. Additionally, a pickup truck parked near the garage and a window of Mr. Turner’s residence sustained damage as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental. No foul play is suspected.

On 4 Apr 12 Dolly Wilfong, age 56, 705 Barclay Street Lot 12, Belpre, reported a tenant on her rental property threatened her with a handgun when she served him with an eviction notice. Ms. Wilfong’s brother, David Wilfong, age 54, 29045 Murphy Road, Coolville, traveled with his sister to the residence at 12 Linton Road, Coolville, to help her repossess a riding mower. The tenant, Grant Baker, age 57, is the ex-boyfriend of Ms. Wilfong and stopped making payments on the residence and the mower in September 2011. When Mr. Wilfong began preparing to remove the mower from the property, Mr. Baker exited his residence with a .45 handgun and threatened to blow the heads of Ms. and Mr. Wilfong if they did not leave the property. Ms. Wilfong said Mr. Baker appeared extremely agitate and that she and her brother felt he was capable of carrying out his threat. Mr. Baker admitted exiting his residence with the weapon but said the weapon was unloaded and denied pointing the weapon at anyone. Based on his investigation, Sgt. Smeeks arrested Mr. Baker for two counts of aggravated menacing and transported him to the Washington County Jail. A check of the gun’s serial number revealed it was reported stolen during a burglary in Wayne County, OH in 2001. Mr. Baker said he purchased the gun from his now deceased son approximately ten years ago and that his son purchased the weapon from an acquaintance in West Virginia. Sgt. Smeeks subsequently confiscated the weapon and placed in evidence.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
