On 28 Mar 12 James Bland III, age 19, 2543 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, reported he recently discovered an unknown individual used his debit card number to purchase over $100 in goods from an online store in the United Kingdom. This case remains under investigation (1007).

On 28 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff Metts requested a summons for Brent Maze, age 38, 283 Maze Road, Belpre, for disorderly conduct. Mr. Maze’s ex-wife reported she was at his residence to pick up her children when Mr. Maze became upset and began cursing at her in front of their children. Learning disputes between the two were an ongoing problem, Deputy Metts counseled Mr. Maze and his ex-wife to seek other arrangements to exchange custody.

On 28 Mar 12 Jessica Drake, age 24, 1225 County House Lane, Marietta, reported while she was serving a jail term she believes a family member entered her storage building and removed nearly all of her property from inside it. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 28 Mar 12 Sgt. Smeeks issued a citation to Ira Heyward Jr., age 51, 632 Second Street, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for traveling 74 mph in a 55 mph zone. Sgt. Smeeks stopped Mr. Heyward on State Route 7 near milepost ten in Belpre Township.

On 28 Mar 12 Lt. Rhodes arrested Shannon L. Perry, age 35, 10250 Veto Road, Belpre, for OVI. Stopped for operating an ATV on the roadway near the intersection of Briggs Hill and Veto roads, Mr. Perry had a strong odor of alcohol. When questioned, Mr. Perry stated he was on his way home from a friend’s residence after consuming three beers. Mr. Perry subsequently performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was transported to the Washington County Jail. At the jail, Mr. Perry tested .138 BAC.


Following an investigation, Deputy Sheriff Brockmeier arrested two suspects last night on a third degree felony charge of sexual battery. Daniel R. Hess, age 45, 728 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, and his live-in girlfriend Lacey K. Day, age 30, are accused of sexually assaulting a fifteen year old female family member on three occasions beginning in late 2010. The victim stated she engaged in various sexual acts with both Mr. Hess and Ms. Day while she visited their residence on those multiple occasions. Questioned about the allegations, Ms. Day admitted being involved in sexual acts with the teenager and Mr. Hess during the three incidents. Though he would not make any specific statements about what transpired, Mr. Hess commented that what the victim said happened, did happen.

Both suspects are being held without bond pending their initial court appearance this afternoon.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Amy Jo Andermanis, age 33, 52 Saint Andrews Boulevard, Belpre, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Andermanis was arrested in Juvenile Court by Deputy Sheriff Deem and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 12 at 9:00 am.

James Ryan Andrews, age 27, 957 Gantsville Road, Little Hocking, for domestic violence and for contempt of a court order, both misdemeanors. Andrews was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Heddleston of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 12 at 9:15 am.

David Lee Perine, age 27, 1007 Orchard Street Apt. 3, Marietta, for failing to confine/restrain a dog and for failing to register a dog, both misdemeanors. Perine turned himself in to Deputy Sheriff Underwood and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 12 at 11:55 am.

Barbara Renee Beikirch, age 41, 260 Radabaugh Road, Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Beikirch was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 12 at 5:34 pm.

Shannon Lee Perry, age 35, 10250 Veto Road, Belpre, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Perry was arrested on Briggs Hill Road by Lt. Rhodes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Mar 12 at 8:47 pm.
