On 25 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff McPeek requested summonses for Andrew Christy, age 18, 104 Alden Avenue, Marietta, and Cody Summerville, age 18, 1532 Old Saint Marys Pike, Parkersburg, for underage consumption of alcohol. While on patrol shortly after midnight, Deputies Mankins and McPeek noticed an odor of alcohol on Mr. Christy and Mr. Summerville when they encountered the suspects walking near the soccer fields in Devola. Though they initially denied consuming any alcohol, both suspects later admitted drinking two beers at Mr. Christy’s residence earlier in the evening.

On 25 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff McPeek conducted a traffic stop after the driver of a vehicle failed to use a turn signal when turning into the Devol’s Dam parking lot around 1 am. Speaking to the occupants of the vehicle, Deputies Mankins and McPeek observed bottles of vodka on the floorboards at the feet of the three passengers. The seventeen year old front seat passenger, Alexander Wesel, age 18, 523 Fifth Street, Marietta, and Sarah Studenic, age 18, 105 Windy Point Drive, Marietta, produced a total of six bottles of vodka, including two 1.75 liter bottles. All three passengers admitted consuming alcohol that evening and provided breath samples that were indicative of alcohol consumption. The vehicle’s driver had not consumed alcohol and tested .000 BAC. While the seventeen year old was released to his mother and summonsed to Juvenile Court, Ms. Studenic and Mr. Wesel were arrested for underage consumption of alcohol and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 25 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriffs Mankins and McPeek and the Fearing, Little Muskingum and Salem fire departments were dispatched to a fire at the residence of Clarence Poole, age 77, at 3145 Goss Fork Road, Whipple. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental and may be related to a light fixture that Mr. Poole replaced that evening. The home and its contents are a total loss.

On 25 Mar 12 Angie Ward, age 46, 3725 Bells Run Road, Newport, reported sometime during the overnight hours between 23 and 24 Mar, an unknown suspect stole a 2000 Dodge Dakota from outside her home. The suspect(s) returned the truck to Ms. Ward’s property after it apparently was involved in a crash. Deputies later determined the crash occurred at 25940 State Route 7, Marietta. It appears the driver of the truck drove through a fence at that location and struck the side of a building. This case remains under investigation (610, 790, 1007).

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Sarah Anne Studenic, age 18, 105 Windy Point Drive, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Studenic was arrested in Devola by Deputy Sheriff McPeek and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Mar 12 at 2:05 am.
