On 17 Mar 12 a passerby reported seeing a toddler walking along State Route 550 in Fleming. The witness observed an open door in the vicinity and informed the child’s napping mother of the toddler’s whereabouts. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Holbert, the child’s mother said she was napping with her children when the two year old escaped from the home through a locked door. The boy’s mother said she did not deadbolt the door and was unaware her son could unlock the door himself. Finding that the mother did not violate the duty of protection of care for her son, Deputy Holbert closed this case as unfounded.
