On 7 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff Schubert requested summonses for David L. Perine, age 27, 1216 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras, for failing to register his dog and for failing to confine/restrain his dog. Neighbors reported Mr. Perine’s pit bull roamed the neighborhood freely and frequently charged at people in the area. After receiving similar complaints in early January, Deputy Schubert warned Mr. Perine to license and restrain his dog.

On 7 Mar 12 a teacher at Lower Salem Elementary School, 10930 State Route 821, Lower Salem, reported a twelve year old student was being disruptive and threw a chair into a book cart. The juvenile later calmed down and apologized for his behavior. Neither the school nor the juvenile’s parents desired to pursue unruliness charges in the matter. However, the student will be suspended for an undetermined amount of time (208).

On 7 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff Reeder issued a citation to Brett S. Edwards, age 22, 165 Cornerstone Drive, Marietta, for traveling 55 mph in a 45 mph zone. Deputy Reeder stopped Mr. Edwards on State Route 7 near milepost twenty-seven in Marietta Township.

On 7 Mar 12 Deputy Sheriff Caltrider responded to the scene of death of a seventy-seven year old Lower Salem resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 7 Mar 12 the Little Muskingum Fire Department transported a nine year old New Matamoras resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment following an ATV accident. The girl’s father was attempting to teach his daughter how to drive a side by side ATV when the girl pressed too hard on the gas as the ATV rounded a turn. The ATV overturned, causing the juvenile to fall from the driver seat onto her father. When she fell the girl cut her leg on a piece of metal in the passenger compartment. The girl’s father sustained a minor abrasion on his arm (1293).

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

Mary Elizabeth Wolfe, age 33, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt. 8B, New Matamoras, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Wolfe was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 7 Mar 12 at 4:00 pm.
