On 20 Jan 12 Deputy Sheriff Anderson responded
to an alleged domestic dispute at the residence of Carrie Howell,
age 38, at 135 Mill Street, Waterford. Ms. Howell said she was
arguing with her boyfriend when her son thought he heard a thump.
At no time did Ms. Howell say any threat or physical altercation
occurred. Therefore, Deputy Anderson closed this case as unfounded.
On 20 Jan 12 Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested
Victor Wells, age 26, 118 Second Street, Lower Salem, for improperly
handling a firearm in a motor vehicle. Stopped after sliding
sideways in his vehicle onto State Route 821 from Peaker Run
Road, Mr. Wells had an unload .380 handgun on the dashboard
of his truck. Mr. Wells subsequently removed the weapon’s
loaded magazine from his shirt pocket and provided it to Deputy
Reeder. Though the weapon was not loaded it is illegal to transport
a firearm that is accessible without leaving the vehicle.
On 20 Jan 12 a thirty-two year old Little Hocking
resident reported her ex-husband posted several negative comments
about her on Facebook. Previously ordered to not contact the
victim via phone, the suspect did not send the messages directly
to the victim but she felt the posts were meant to harass her.
Deputy Sheriff Lockhart will review this case with the Law Director
to determine if any charges are warranted.
On 20 Jan 12 Toni M. Shutts, age 56, 201 Watson
Lane, Belpre, reported sometime between 9:30 and 11:00 that
morning an unknown suspect(s) entered her home and stole approximately
$50 and a bottle of hydrocodone pills. This case remains under
On 20 Jan 12 Deputy Sheriff Holbert arrested
Justin L. Maliki, age 26, 300 Starlite Drive Lot 5, Marietta,
for domestic violence. Mr. Maliki’s was yelling at his
six year old son for throwing a three year old household member
to the floor when the child yelled back at him and kicked him.
Growing increasingly upset, Mr. Maliki then kicked his son with
full force in the face. The kick left the child with swelling
and bruising around his right eye.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Donald Eugene Bartimus, age 31, 2346 Sealy
Ridge Road, Vincent, for a felony charge of violating the terms
of his probation and misdemeanor charges of driving under a
suspended license and theft. Bartimus was arrested in Common
Pleas Court by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 20 Jan 12 at 12:29 pm.
Katherine Louise Buchanan, age 30, 2346 Sealy
Ridge Road, Vincent, for violating the terms of her probation,
a felony. Buchanan was arrested on Second Street in Marietta
by Deputy Sheriff Deem and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Jan 12 at 3:22 pm.
Timothy James Newbrough, age 28, 848 Greene
Street, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, theft,
failure to register and for failure to reinstate his operator’s
license, all misdemeanors. Newbrough was arrested at Kmart by
Patrolman McClelland of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Jan 12 at
Justin Lee Maliki, age 26, 300 Starlite Drive
Lot 5, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Maliki
was arrested on Starlite Drive in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff
Holbert and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20
Jan 12 at 6:47 pm.
Victor Ira Fred Wells, age 26, 118 Second Street,
Lower Salem, for improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle,
a felony. Wells was arrested in Lower Salem by Deputy Sheriff
Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Jan
12 at 9:05 pm.
Tracy Dawn Boggs, age 34, 803 Elm Street, Belpre,
for being a fugitive from justice, a felony. Boggs was arrested
at her residence by Patrolman Heddleston of the Belpre City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 20 Jan 12 at 10:28 pm.
