On 17 Jan 12 Sherry M. Duff, age 41, 685 Mitchells Lane, Marietta, reported she allowed two acquaintances to stay overnight at her home and when they left she believes they stole her son’s Playstation 3 and two games. This case remains under investigation (1293).

On 17 Jan 12 an employee of Leslie Equipment, 105 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, reported in November 2011 a customer issued the business a check for $80.70 that was later returned for nonsufficient funds. This case remains under investigation (1090).

On 17 Jan 12 Dessie L. Walters, age 80, 7760 Dalzell Road, Whipple, reported approximately a week after last Christmas she noticed two Visa gift cards and three Wal-Mart gift cards were missing from her home. The total value of the gift cards is $175. This case remains under investigation (608).

On 17 Jan 12 the assistant principal at Fort Frye High School, 500 Fifth Street, Beverly, reported sometime between 3 pm on 13 Jan and 7:40 am on 17 Jan 12 an unknown suspect(s) unsuccessfully attempted to enter the school. This case was forwarded to the Beverly Police Department for further investigation (608).

On 17 Jan 12 Glen L. Stephens, age 70, 20 Meadowbrook Drive, Waterford, reported around 8 am he looked out his window and observed the driver of a pickup truck fishtailing through his front yard. This case remains under investigation (608).

On 17 Jan 12 Deputy Sheriff Holbert arrested Mark R. Woodford, age 54, 5235 Muskingum River Road, Lowell, for .17 breath OVI. Investigating a report of a possible intoxicated driver, Deputy Holbert found Mr. Woodford’s vehicle with a flat tire, stuck on an embankment and railroad tracks near the entrance of his driveway. Mr. Woodford had a strong odor of alcohol and was unable to stand without assistance. Asked about his inebriety, Mr. Woodford said he was having a bad day and drank a few beers after work. Additionally, he stated he drove home after consuming the alcohol and lost control of his vehicle when he missed his driveway by, “a little bit.” Unable to perform a sobriety test, Mr. Woodford provided the classic response, “I couldn’t even do that sober.” When transported to the Washington County Jail, Mr. Woodford tested .267 BAC.

On 17 Jan 12 Stacy Y. Lee, age 41, 615 River Road, Marietta, reported when her father, William R. Rice, age 71, arrived home he was upset that she had not cleaned the house and initiated an argument. Mrs. Lee stated the argument escalated to a point which her father threatened to strike her and shoved her with his forearm. Questioned about the incident, Mr. Rice admitted shoving his daughter and said he threw her purse outside, hoping she would leave. Consequently, Sgt. Hornbeck arrested Mr. Rice for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 17 Jan 12 Janet Shaw, age 38, 50510 State Route 7, New Matamoras, reported her former live-in boyfriend Baxter Grimes, age 35, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, was outside her home, yelling and banging on doors and windows. Ms. Shaw said Mr. Grimes made threatening comments and appeared to have a tire iron in one of his hands. Based on Ms. Shaw’s statement, Deputy Sheriff Caltrider arrested Mr. Grimes for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Mark Roger Woodford, age 54, 5235 Muskingum River Road, Lowell, for .17 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Woodford was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Holbert and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 2:23 am.

Brandy Marie Adams, age 24, 1229 Lost Pavement Road, Parkersburg, for three felony counts of theft. Adams turned herself in to Corrections Officers and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 9:19 am.

Baxter Lee Grimes, age 35, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Grimes was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 11:05 am.

William Louis Rice, age 71, 615 River Road, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Rice was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 1:58 pm.

Joshua Allen Countryman, age 24, for rape, a felony. Countryman was picked up at the Ross Correctional Institution by Corrections Officer Huffer and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 1:59 pm.

Rosezella Lynn Bell, age 34, 305 Lee Street Apt. 2, Belpre, for misconduct at an emergency and for four counts of assault, all misdemeanors. Bell was picked up in Athens and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jan 12 at 5:50 pm.
