On 6 Dec 11 Deputy Sheriff Holbert requested
a summons for Kelley A. Myers, age 34, 302 Oakmont Drive, Belpre,
for theft. The previous day Ms. Myers’ ex-husband reported
a wreath and wooden snowman were stolen from outside his home.
Ben Myers, age 34, 223 Knob Drive, Vincent, said he suspected
his ex-wife was responsible because of similar incidents that
occurred in the past. Questioned about the stolen items, which
she placed outside her home, Ms. Myers said she believed the
items were hers and she was allowed to take them without permission.
On 6 Dec 11 David R. Hasley, age 38, 5350 State
Route 26, Marietta, reported a five b y ten foot utility trailer
was stolen from atop his driveway sometime since Monday evening.
This case remains under investigation (208).
On 6 Dec 11 Violet Campbell, age 51, 101 Deerwalk
Circle Apt. A, Marietta, reported during the brief time she
ran errands that afternoon she believes one of her sons stole
several of her Xanax pills. Ms. Campbell said her son then fled
and was possibly en route to Clarksburg, WV. This case remains
under investigation (208).
On 6 Dec 11 Nathan Oliver, age 19, 184 Third
Street, Lowell, reported his father, Tony, age 44, swung a modified
tire jack at him and struck him in the hand. Arguing over his
father’s drinking problem and complaining that his father
spends his rent money on beer, Mr. Oliver said he shoved his
father to the floor of their garage after being struck. The
jack handle was modified with a knife mounted to one end but
the knife was not exposed during the attack. The elder Oliver
denied being involved in a physical confrontation, saying they
only argued over his son being behind two months on his rent.
Based on Nathan’s injury and statement, Deputy Sheriff
Reeder arrested Tony Oliver for domestic violence and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 6 Dec 11 a supervisor at Marietta Silos,
2417 Waterford Road, Marietta, reported at some point during
the past week an unknown suspect(s) entered a warehouse at the
business and stole a quantity of welding leads and various tools.
This case remains under investigation (507).
On 6 Dec 11 Lindsey M. Tornes, age 21, 1160
Hadley Hollow Road, Marietta, was traveling eastbound on Sandhill
Road when she lost the steering in her 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Ms. Tornes’ vehicle crossed the roadway and crashed into
a guardrail near milepost one. The collision caused disabling
damage to Ms. Tornes’ vehicle. She was not injured (500).
On 6 Dec 11 Nyla E. Carver, age 70, 27335 State
Route 7 Lot 42, Marietta, reported at some point during the
past three months an unknown suspect(s) entered her home and
stole a small safe from her bedroom. Ms. Carver said the safe
contained mostly collectible coins, including presidential and
Sacajawea dollars and uncirculated pennies. This case remains
under investigation (208).
On 6 Dec 11 Gladys A. Dunn, age 68, 225 Front
Drive, New Matamoras, reported sometime overnight an unknown
suspect(s) entered her vehicle and stole her Garmin GPS. This
case remains under investigation (208).
On 6 Dec 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr issued a citation
to Jessica N. Thompson, age 30, 100 Edmar Avenue, Marietta,
for traveling 66 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Carr stopped Ms.
Thompson on State Route 7 near Joe Skinner Road in Dunham Township.

Tony Wayne Oliver Sr., age 44, 184 Third Street,
Lowell, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Oliver was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 11 at 1:48 am.
Penny Lemoine Barker, age 42, 14761 State Route
555, Cutler, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Barker was
arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff McConnell and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 11 at 3:47 pm.
Derek Jordan Vanhorn, age 24, 1480 Center Bend
Road, Beverly, for aggravated vehicular homicide, a felony.
Vanhorn was arrested on State Route 83 by Sgt. Norman of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 11 at 4:30 pm.
James Warren Smith, age 25, 127 Euclid Street,
Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, hit-skip and
following another vehicle too closely, all misdemeanors. Smith
was arrested at his residence by the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Dec 11 at
