SUSPECT ARRESTED FOR ALTERING
A sixty-two year old Marietta man is in custody
tonight after allegedly altering a prescription for the narcotic,
Dilaudid. Dilaudid is a Schedule II drug prescribed to treat
moderate to severe pain and is considered highly addictive.
Gary Richards, 2011 Lewis Avenue, Parkersburg,
was issued a prescription for 4 mg of the drug but allegedly
altered it to read 8 mg. Reported to have violent tendencies
by his doctor’s office and his local pharmacy’s
staff, Mr. Richards was found to be a heavy user of Dilaudid.
Though he denied changing the prescribed dosage,
Mr. Richards later admitted the dosage number on his prescription
was altered. Mr. Richards denied any knowledge of changing the
prescription but he said he did not change the script to be
deceitful. He further noted he was not changing the dosage,
as he was still only able to take a specific amount on a given
day with regards to the amount of milligrams taken in a day’s
Mr. Richards was subsequently arrested for
a fourth degree felony charge of illegal processing of drug
documents and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 29 Nov 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson and the
Barlow Fire Department responded to reports of a trailer fire
at 9460 State Route 550, Vincent. The property’s owner,
Joe Caldwell, age 30, said the trailer was old and in disrepair
and that he was conducting a controlled burn of the trailer.
Mr. Caldwell stated he did not intend for a fire department
to respond to the fire but believes the explosion of aerosol
cans inside the trailer possibly concerned a neighbor who reported

Drag Strip Road, Belpre, reported she believes an acquaintance
who briefly visited her home that evening stole her recently
filled prescription of Klonipin. This case remains under investigation
On 29 Nov 11 Floyd R. Duff, age 74, 1350 Pleasant
Ridge Road, Marietta, reported approximately $300 in rolled
coins were stolen from his bedroom sometime during the past
four days. This case remains under investigation (790).
On 29 Nov 11 Delbert Bennett, age 70, reported
sometime during the night an unknown suspect(s) removed an air
conditioner to gain access into his business at 46075 State
Route 7, New Matamoras. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole a
steel drum containing copper wire, six extension cords, three
radiators and a container of miscellaneous pieces of brass.
This case remains under investigation (790).
On 29 Nov 11 a thirty-eight year old Sutton,
WV resident reported her three children returned home after
spending several days with their father in Belpre and when they
returned her twelve year old daughter said she was mistreated
by her father. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Underwood, the twelve
year old said her head still hurt from when her father pulled
her by the hair and stated that he also pushed her onto a bed
and held her there forcefully by her face. This case remains

Gary Conrad Richards, age 62, 2011 Lewis Avenue,
Parkersburg, for illegal processing of drug documents, a felony.
Richards was arrested in Marietta by Detective Schuck of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 29 Nov 11 at 2:38 pm.
Lori Lynn Leedy, age 46, 9550 State Route 550,
Vincent, for violating the terms of her probation, breach of
recognizance and domestic violence, all misdemeanors. Leedy
was arrested at her residence by Lt. Rhodes of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 29 Nov 11 at 8:29 pm.
Patricia Kathryn Hodges, age 64, 1322 Colegate
Drive, Marietta, for possession of drugs, a felony. Hodges was
arrested at her residence by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 29 Nov 11 at 9:10 pm.
