On 4 Nov 11 Deputy Sheriff McConnell and the
Grandview and New Matamoras fire departments were dispatched
to a fire at the residence of Irvin Stokes, age 82, at 372 Brownsville
Road, New Matamoras. A neighbor reported hearing a loud explosion
and thereafter observed Mr. Stokes’ mobile home was on
fire. The neighbor attempted to rescue Mr. Stokes but was unable
to do so. Mr. Stokes’ cause of death is unknown at this
time. The State Fire Marshal’s Office was summoned and
was scheduled to further inspect the remnants of the home on

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Robert Corey Wanzo, age 24, 115 Barber Street,
Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Wanzo was arrested
in Marietta by Patrolman Wenzel of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
4 Nov 11 at 4:03 am.
Todd William Grether, age 34, 408 Cougler Street,
New Matamoras, for possession of drugs, a felony. Grether was
arrested in New Matamoras by Deputy Sheriff Metts and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Nov 11 at 11:05 am.
Jacob Linwood Hughes, age 20, 28 Townhall Road,
Marietta, for importuning, a felony. Hughes was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 4 Nov 11 at 7:00 pm.
Christina Marie Jones, age 26, 26935 State
Route 7 Apt. 2A, Marietta, for breach of recognizance and for
disorderly conduct by intoxication, both misdemeanors. Jones
was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 4 Nov 11 at 9:45 pm.
