On 26 Oct 11 Deputy Sheriff Schubert issued a citation to Eric D. Bills, age 42, 5858 Hebron Road, Saint Marys, for traveling 65 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy Schubert stopped Mr. Bills on US 50 near Braun Road in Belpre Township.

On 26 Oct 11 the Sheriff’s Office was notified of a butadiene leak at Kraton Polymers at 2419 State Route 618, Belpre. The colorless, odorless chemical is utilized in the production of synthetic rubber and is inflammable. The chemical release was caused by a leaking flange that was repaired without incident. It is believed that the release was under a total of ten pounds, which is the threshold for reporting such a release and was reported as a precaution. No injuries were reported.

On 26 Oct 11 Daniel Gaughan, age 45, 106 Fourth Street, Beverly, reported he was held against his will in an office at his place of employment in Lowell that afternoon. Mr. Gaughan said he believed his supervisor was upset that he filed a worker’s compensation claim slammed a door when he tried to leave the office. Mr. Gaughan stated his supervisor also stood in front of the door and yelled at him to fill out additional paperwork. Only wanting the incident noted, Mr. Gaughan declined to pursue charges in the matter (1007).

On 26 Oct 11 William B. Poling, age 27, 15 Stanley Street, Newport, reported sometime between 24 and 25 Oct an unknown suspect(s) entered a storage building on his property and stole an ATV, a climbing tree stand, a compound bow and a hunting bag. This case remains under investigation (1007).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Matthew Lee Lipps, age 23, 434 West Virginia Avenue, Harrisville, WV, for consuming alcohol in a vehicle and for possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Lipps was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Hunter of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 3:21 am.

Nick Roscoe Blackburn Jr., age 28, 573 Fifth Street, Parkersburg, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Blackburn was picked up at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 3:45 pm.

Glenn Francis Young Jr., age 46, 220 Broadway Street Apt. 8, Ravenswood, WV, for a felony charge of theft and for misdemeanor charges of driving under a suspended license, failure to reinstate his operator’s license and for operating a vehicle with expired plates. Young was arrested near milepost seventeen on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 5:27 pm.

Charles Edwin Day Jr., age 28, 830 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Day was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Anderson and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 5:56 pm.

Steven Wayne Lockhart, age 47, 63 Apple Road, Davisville, WV, for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony. Lockhart was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 8:02 pm.

Thomas Lee Doty II, age 43, 15956 State Route 821, Macksburg, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Doty was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Oct 11 at 11:56 pm.
