On 14 Oct 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested a warrant for John L. Clark, age 40, 1685 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, for a felony charge of domestic violence. Previously convicted of domestic violence, Mr. Clark assaulted his sixteen year old niece at his residence in the early morning hours. Mr. Clark’s niece, who lives at the residence, said she packed her belongings and planned to leave the home after her uncle accused her of stealing a watch and coins. As his niece walked to her car, Mr. Clark grabbed her by the face and neck and subsequently punched her in the stomach. The victim escaped to her vehicle, at which point Mr. Clark lifted up the hood and caused a dent.

On 14 Oct 11 Paul Argenti, age 54, 8819 Furnace Road, Vermillion, OH, reported he owns fifty acres of land on Whipple Run Road in Salem Township and at some point since he last visited the property in May an unknown suspect(s) timbered approximately seventy trees without permission. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 14 Oct 11 Michelle L. Cantwell, age 38, 301 Broad Street, Macksburg, reported a Troy Bilt weed eater was stolen from outside her residence sometime during the day. This case remains under investigation (507).

On 14 Oct 11 Sgt. Norman and Deputy Sheriffs Lockhart and McConnell responded to a report of a vehicle spotlighting deer in the vicinity of Oak Hill Road in Palmer Township. The Deputies located the vehicle near Pugh Road and conducted a traffic stop. Inside the vehicle the Deputies observed a large spotlight, several open beer bottles and a .22 rifle. The driver of the vehicle, Dean A. Miller, age 18, 12834 State Route 339, Vincent, started he purchased the rifle earlier in the day and admitted consuming alcohol in the vehicle. He later tested .043 BAC. The vehicle’s passengers also tested positive for alcohol and each was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol. The passengers were Kacie L. Wears, age 18, 12915 State Route 676, Waterford; Chad A. Offenberger, age 18, 4205 Buchanan Road, Waterford; and Amber Linn Farnsworth, age 18, 12834 State Route 339, Vincent. Mr. Miller was charged with .02 underage OVI and improper handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.
