On 27 Aug 11 Lt. Hornbeck and Deputy Sheriff
Simmons responded to 1125 Brownsville Road, New Matamoras, where
a caller reported an intoxicated individual was seated in a
vehicle and threatening to shoot himself with a handgun. When
the Deputies arrived the suspect, Richard L. McKnight, age 54,
was unarmed, having relinquished his firearm to his daughter.
Taken into custody without incident, Mr. McKnight said he was
upset because he believed his wife was having an affair and
consumed a dozen beers in the past two hours. Mr. McKnight’s
daughter stated her father did not point the gun at anyone nor
did he threaten to shoot anyone. Mr. McKnight was subsequently
arrested for handling a weapon while intoxicated and transported
to the Washington County Jail. At the jail Mr. McKnight tested
On 27 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Danny
E. Sullivan, age 50, 5680 Johnson Ridge Road, Waterford, for
disorderly conduct by intoxication. Found by Beverly-Waterford
emergency squad members lying along Sparling Road, Mr. Sullivan
appeared highly intoxicated and was barely able to stand. Mr.
Sullivan declined to provide a breath sample but stated he drank
a lot during a bachelor party that evening.
On 27 Aug 11 Wendall K. Babcock, age 59, 2718
Beach Drive, Belpre, reported sometime overnight an unknown
suspect(s) stole a self-propelled lawn mower from outside his
garage. This case remains under investigation (610).
On 27 Aug 11 Misty Winchell, age 29, 9552 State
Route 550, Vincent, reported she and her sister were threatened
by their mother when she stopped by their residence to retrieve
some belongings. Ms. Winchell said she resides with her father
and her mother, Lori Leedy, age 46, 9550 State Route 550, became
upset when she would not allow her to enter her father’s
bedroom. As she grew enraged, Ms. Leedy threatened to burn the
house down while her children were in it and also that she would
run a truck through the home’s garage. Ms. Leedy later
overheard commenting that she wanted to kill Ms. Winchell. Both
Ms. Winchell and her sister, Amy Leedy, age 22, stated their
mother’s comments caused them to fear for their safety
and requested protection orders against their mother. Consequently,
Lt. Hornbeck arrested Ms. Leedy for two counts of domestic violence
and transported her to the Washington County Jail.
On 27 Aug 11 Courtney Anderson, age 26, 1502
Stone Quarry Road, Fleming, reported she fled her residence
the previous evening after her husband Adam, age 27, over aggressively
disciplined their seven year old son. Mrs. Anderson returned
to the residence when her husband was not present but she later
observed him rifling through her vehicle. Approaching her vehicle,
Mrs. Anderson said her husband was angry that he found mail
in the car with his name on it and began yelling and cursing
at her. Mrs. Anderson stated her husband subsequently threw
a plastic CD case that struck her in the mouth and chipped a
tooth. In fear of her safety, Mrs. Anderson commented she also
fears for her children’s safety because of her husband’s
aggressive behavior. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Anderson arrested
Mr. Anderson for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 27 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Lillie
B. Singer, age 51, 11827 State Route 555, Cutler, for domestic
violence and for two counts of violating the terms of a protection
order. Angry after seeing her ex-husband riding past her residence
on his motorcycle with his girlfriend, Ms. Singer observed her
ex-husband walking to Cutler Station and followed him in her
car. Ms. Singer swerved toward her ex-husband, Michael Singer,
age 53, 363 Clark Road, Cutler, and later confronted him inside
the store and struck him three times with a broom. As he escaped
to his girlfriend’s nearby home, Mr. Singer said his ex-wife
threatened to crash her vehicle into his motorcycle. Mr. Singer
attempted to back his motorcycle farther into his girlfriend’s
yard, at which point Ms. Singer accelerated her vehicle toward
him and struck the motorcycle as he sat on it. When Ms. Singer
reversed, Mr. Singer threw a log to impede the vehicle’s
progress and struck the vehicle with a tree branch. While reversing
Ms. Singer crashed into the front driver side of another vehicle.
Ms. Singer struck the motorcycle a second time and then fled
the area. Ms. Singer claimed her ex-husband’s girlfriend
initiated the confrontation by calling her derogatory names
but admitted coming into contact with the two in violation of
a previously issued protection order. No injuries were reported
as a result of the incident.

Eric Christopher Edgar, age 26, 417 Goss Fork
Road, Whipple, for four counts of failure to appear. Edgar was
arrested in Belpre by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Aug 11 at 2:17 am.
Danny Edward Sullivan, age 50, 5680 Johnson
Ridge Road, Waterford, for disorderly conduct by intoxication,
a misdemeanor. Sullivan was arrested in Waterford by Deputy
Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on
27 Aug 11 at 2:43 am.
Lori Lynn Leedy, age 46, 9550 State Route 550,
Vincent, for two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Leedy
was arrested at her residence by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 27 Aug 11 at 4:09 pm.
Timothy Wayne Evans, age 25, 10 Browns Road
Apt. A, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Evans
was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Aug 11 at 5:34 pm.
Richard Lee McKnight, age 54, 1125 Brownsville
Road, New Matamoras, for using a weapon while intoxicated, a
felony. McKnight was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff
Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27
Aug 11 at 5:52 pm.
Lillie Belle Singer, age 51, 11827 State Route
555, Cutler, for domestic violence and for two counts of for
violating the terms of a protection order, all misdemeanors.
Singer was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Aug 11 at
Gerald Howard Dicken Jr., age 47, 525 Eagle
Street, Fairport Harbor, OH, for obstructing official business
and for disorderly conduct by intoxication, both misdemeanors.
Dicken was arrested in Beverly by Patrolman Schaad of the Beverly
Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 27 Aug 11 at 11:28 pm.
