On 22 Aug 11 Richard Thomas, age 53, 3585 Fifteenmile Creek Road, Marietta, reported that afternoon he discovered what appeared to be bullet holes in the siding of his home. After passing through the siding the bullet went through a shower and entered the trailer’s hot water heater. The pistol range of the Fort Harmar Gun Club is approximately 100 yards from the home and is likely from where the projectile was fired. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 22 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr responded to reports of an intoxicated driver operating a vehicle in the vicinity of State Route 676 and Hoover Road in Waterford. Shortly thereafter a resident on Wells Road reported Regina L. Hoover, age 47, 29 Garage Lane, Waterford, arrived at her home intoxicated to pick up her children. Upon arrival at the home, Deputy Carr noticed Ms. Hoover had a strong odor of alcohol and that she had trouble maintaining her balance. Ms. Hoover admitted she consumed “a lot of beers” and that she drove to the residence after consuming alcohol. When Deputy Carr asked Ms. Hoover why she was shoeless, she replied “I didn’t have any when I came out of my mama and I don’t have any now.” Ms. Hoover subsequently performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. Placed in the back of Deputy Carr’s cruiser, Ms. Hoover repeatedly kicked the passenger side window, leaving scratches and smudges of dirt and tar from her bare feet. Additionally charged with criminal damaging, Ms. Hoover was transported to the Washington County Jail. At the jail Mr. Hoover tested .225 BAC.

On 22 Aug 11 Lt. Rhodes and Deputy Sheriffs Anderson and Metts responded to the scene of death of a fifty-two year old Belpre resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 22 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested a summons for Robert P. Tate, age 61, 1776 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre, for allowing his cattle to remain at large. Responding to reports of cows in the roadway, Deputy Anderson observed a cow outside of Mr. Tate’s fence, standing three feet off the road.

On 22 Aug 11 Maudie Wilcoxen, age 48, 1151 Holmes Street, Erwin, NC, reported she is the executor for the property at 1520 Congress Road, Belpre, and when she visited the residence she noticed the two locking mechanisms on a storage building door were damaged. This case remains under investigation (610).

On 22 Aug 11 Jimmy R. Brookover, age 48, 186 Main Street Lot 4, Lowell, reported after discovering his checking account was overdrawn he determined one of his checks was stolen and forged for $548. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 22 Aug 11 an employee of Pristine Pools, 245 County Road 9, Marietta, reported sometime between 6 pm on 17 Aug and 8 am on 22 Aug an unknown suspect(s) stole a fourteen foot utility trailer from a yard beside the business. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 22 Aug 11 Corrections Officer Huffer filed charges against Washington County Jail inmate Jason H. Malone, age 33, 405 Lord Street, Marietta, for aggravated menacing and criminal damaging. Collecting inmate meal trays, CO Huffer noticed Mr. Malone scrawled “CO Reeder dead” on his tray. Further investigation revealed another tray had “CO Reeder will die soon” carved into it. CO Reeder previously placed Mr. Malone in disciplinary lockdown and Mr. Malone made threats to him at the time.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

William Howard McBrayer, age 25, 717 Riverview Drive, Belmont, WV, for obstructing official business, possession of drugs, violating the terms of his probation and for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, all misdemeanors. McBrayer was arrested near milepost seven on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Aug 11 at 3:04 am.

Jamie Dwayne Price, age 20, 957 Zion Ridge Road, Marietta, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Price was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Aug 11 at 11:00 am.

Jason Matthew Schantz, age 19, 407 13th Street Apt. A, Parkersburg, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Schantz was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Williams of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Aug 11 at 3:00 pm.

Regina Lynn Hoover, age 47, 29 Garage Lane, Waterford, for .17 breath OVI and for criminal damaging, both misdemeanors. Hoover was arrested on Wells Road in Waterford by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Aug 11 at 7:32 pm.

Raul Jose Negrete, age 25, 925 Delmonte Drive Apt. 14, Winston Salem, NC, for driving under a suspended license and speeding, both misdemeanors. Negrete was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 22 Aug 11 at 10:25 pm.
