On 18 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested Jason L. Strickler, age 32, 1040 Dana Run Road, Newport, for violating the terms of a protection order. Mr. Strickler’s wife, Cara, age 32, 230 Milltown Road, Newport, obtained a protection order after her husband was released from jail after being arrested earlier this month for domestic violence. Ms. Strickler said she has been living at a shelter because she fears for her safety but visited her residence that afternoon to meet a home appraiser. When she arrived Mr. Strickler’s vehicle was in the driveway but her husband was not present. Questioned about the presence of his vehicle, Mr. Strickler said he believed he was permitted to be at the residence as long as his wife was not there. However, Deputy Reeder determined Mr. Strickler’s actions violated the protection order.

On 18 Aug 11 Thomas M. Hartman Jr., age 38, 30 Hanover Road, Cutler, reported he has been staying elsewhere for the past several days and when he returned to his residence he noticed three bottles of his prescription medication and a jar of change were missing. Mr. Hartman said the pill bottles contained four or five tablets each and the jar of change was worth approximately $50. Mr. Hartman declined to pursue the matter further (790).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jeffrey Alan Theiss, age 33, 27130 State Route 7, Marietta, for safecracking, theft and tampering with evidence, all felonies. Theiss was picked up at the Noble Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Tornes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 11 at 10:16 am.
