On 17 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a summons for Robert Tate, age 61, 1776 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre, for permitting animals to remain at large. Mr. Tate’s neighbor, Theda Smallwood, age 49, 1706 Calder Ridge Road, Belpre, reported when she went outside to feed her dog that morning she observed several of Mr. Tate’s cattle loose in her yard. Ms. Smallwood said the cattle overturned her dog house and were eating the corn and grain around her chicken coop. When Deputy Carr arrived at the scene Mr. Tate was directing the cattle back to his property.

On 17 Aug 11 the owner of Lang’s Welding, 800 State Route 821, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) entered the business and stole four, fifty foot sections of electrical cords, a welding torch, a spool of welding wire, welding cable, ground clamps, a grinder and various other welding items. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 17 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart arrested Delmar L. Offenberger, age 36, 25 Radabaugh Road, Marietta, and David Siders, age 31, 368 Old Country Drive, Waverly, WV, for disorderly conduct by intoxication. While on patrol in the 200 block of Greene Street in Marietta, Deputy Lockhart observed Mr. Offenberger and Mr. Siders urinating on the sidewalk. When Deputy Lockhart advised them to find a bathroom, one of the two responded by shouting an expletive. Both suspects had an odor of alcohol, glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. At the jail Mr. Offenberger tested .212 BAC and Mr. Siders tested .144 BAC.

On 17 Aug 11 Lt. Thorpe issued a citation to Desiree J. Hickel, age 21, 29250 State Route 7, Marietta, for not wearing a seat belt. Lt. Thorpe stopped Ms. Hickel after she failed to use a turn signal when turning onto State Route 7 in Marietta Township.

On 17 Aug 11 Lt. Thorpe issued a citation to James W. Smith, age 25, 127 Euclid Place, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with a driver’s license that expired less than six months ago. Lt. Thorpe stopped Mr. Smith after he failed to use a turn signal when turning from Stone Street onto Gilman Street in Marietta.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kenneth Allen Brewer, age 49, 431 Homestead Drive, Boaz, WV, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Brewer was arrested on Greene Street by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Aug 11 at 1:00 am.
