On 9 Aug 11 Dianne Joyce, age 50, 73 Glencoe
Street, Belpre, reported she has power of attorney of her recently
deceased mother’s estate and she recently discovered unauthorized
activity on her mother’s checking account. Ms. Joyce stated
she noticed a book of checks missing from her mother’s
residence at 3125 State Route 26, Marietta, and she later determined
two of the checks were forged and cashed for a total of $1,200.
This case remains under investigation (790).
On 9 Aug 11 John Thieman, age 47, 677 Kern
Road, Waterford, reported sometime between 3 Aug and 6 Aug an
unknown suspect(s) stole a gold diamond ring and two gold herringbone
necklaces from his deceased wife’s jewelry box that he
keeps in his bedroom. This case remains under investigation
On 9 Aug 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr and the Warren
Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a fire at the
residence of Helen Francis, age 54, at 205 Trestle Hill Road,
Marietta. A hot water heater at Ms. Francis’ home fell
through a rotting floor at the home, disconnecting the gas line
from the water heater. The water heater’s pilot light
then ignited the gas and caused minor fire damage to the insulation
under the home. No injuries were reported.
On 9 Aug 11 Trenton Davis, age 37, 16611 Leatherwood
Road, Lore City, OH, reported he was at work inside Life Ambulance
at 115 Tennis Center Drive, Marietta, between 1 am and 7 am
and at some point during that period his 1993 Pontiac Grand
Prix was stolen from the company’s parking lot. This case
remains under investigation (594).
On 9 Aug 11 Mark J. Tilton, age 42, 12622 State
Route 60, Lowell, reported his wife Teresa, age 41, was highly
intoxicated and during an argument, broke several objects on
the floor of their home. Mr. Tilton said his wife was out of
control and he feared what she may do to him. When Lt. Rhodes
and Deputy Sheriff Simmons arrived at the residence Mrs. Tilton
was driving her vehicle down the driveway. As Mrs. Tilton exited
her vehicle, Lt. Rhodes noticed an odor of alcohol. During questioning
Mrs. Tilton claimed her husband threw an ottoman at her and
struck her in the back of the head and the right shoulder. Mrs.
Tilton Also said she feared her husband would cause her further
injury. Questioned further, Mr. Tilton said his wife also bit
him on the arm, hit him on the head with a tea pot and struck
him in the head with a crutch. As a result of the incident,
Mr. and Mrs. Tilton were both arrested for domestic violence.
Mrs. Tilton performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was
additionally charged with OVI. At the jail Mrs. Tilton tested

Peter Grant Hafner, age 21, 129 Euclid Place,
Marietta, for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Hafner
turned himself in to Corrections Officer Sheaves and was processed
into the Washington County Jail on 9 Aug 11 at 8:43 am.
Timothy Michael Johnson, age 22, 204 Main Street,
Malta, for nonsupport of dependants. John turned himself in
to Corrections Officer Sheaves and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 9 Aug 11 at 9:36 am.
Brent Michael Taylor, age 23, 102 Flintwood
Drive, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation. Taylor
was picked up at SEPTA in Nelsonville by Deputy Sheriff Tornes
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Aug 11 at
Paul Eugene Harris, age 36, 118 Princeton Avenue,
Columbus, for failure to appear and for breach of recognizance,
both misdemeanors. Harris was picked up in Franklin County and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Aug 11 at 3:46
