On 8 Jul 11 Scot A. Edgerton, age 49, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) broke a door window and entered a vacant home he owns at 70 Logan Drive, Belpre. Mr. Edgerton, who now resides in Marietta, stated the suspect(s) stole an HP laptop computer from the home’s sunroom. This case remains under investigation (1293).

On 8 Jul 11 a Marietta resident reported her son, Travis R. Thompson, age 23, 1409 Pike Street, Marietta, departed their residence on 28 Jun and she has not seen or heard from him since. This case remains under investigation (1104).

On 8 Jul 11 the service manager at United Rentals, 18417 State Route 7, Marietta, reported when he arrived at work he noticed damage to the business’ chain link fence that borders Bender Road. Reviewing security footage, the employee said at 3:50 am two unknown suspect(s) rummaged through scrap bins and later loaded scrap material into the back of a Kubota ATV owned by the business. The two suspects then exited through the damaged fence and continued west on Bender Road. The Kubota ATV was discovered the following day on a trail off Bender Road, approximately forty yards from the roadway. This case remains under investigation (1293).

On 8 Jul 11 Sgt. Hornbeck issued a citation to Jeffrey S. Wittekind, age 23, 316 Gilman Street, Marietta, for driving under a license suspended for having unpaid child support and for operating a vehicle with a registration that expired in May 2011. Sgt. Hornbeck stopped Mr. Wittekind on Third Street near Putnam Street in Marietta.

On 8 Jul 11 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Wesley Reed, age 22, 126 Woodshire Drive, Parkersburg, for operating a vehicle with an expired registration. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Reed on State Route 7 near County House Lane in Pioneer Township.

On 8 Jul 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson issued a citation to Constance A. Clayton, age 37, 300 Clark Street, Belmont, WV, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired in June 2011. Deputy Anderson stopped Ms. Clayton on State Route 7 near County Nine Road in Marietta Township.

On 8 Jul 11 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Jeremiah G. Thomas, age 23, 3585 Fifteenmile Creek Road, Marietta, for operating an unsafe vehicle. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Clayton for having a severely cracked windshield on State Route 7 near County Nine Road in Marietta Township.

On 8 Jul 11 Detective Staats issued a citation to Dustin Marcum, age 18, 27335 State Route 7, Marietta, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired on 3 Jul 11, for not wearing a seat belt and for having a cracked windshield. Detective Staats stopped Mr. Marcum in the 27000 block of State Route 7 in Marietta Township.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Billy Allen Babcock, age 35, 470 Cornerville Road, Marietta, for breaking and entering, a felony. Babcock was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Wright of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 12:52 am.

Jacob Franklin Welch, age 19, 900 Beebe Road, Waterford, for aggravated burglary and aggravated riot, both felonies. Welch turned himself in to Corrections Officer Farrell and was processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 8:06 am.

John Robert Derosa III, age 21, 314 Washington Street Apt. 3, Marietta, for theft, a misdemeanor. Derosa was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 10:20 am.

Matthew Spencer Peoples, age 19, 733 Second Street, Marietta, for OVI and for driving under a suspended license, both misdemeanors. Peoples was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 11:16 am.

Michael Alexander Bever, age 20, 526 Old Turnpike Road, Parkersburg, for violating the terms of his probation. Bever was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 5:00 pm.

Melissa Beth Lang, age 43, 130 Saint John Road, Marietta, for telephone harassment, a misdemeanor. Lang was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Caltrider and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 6:15 pm.

Anthony Raymond Blackburn, age 38, 10 Summit Ridge Court Apt. 1, Hamilton, OH, for failure to appear, a felony. Blackburn was arrested in Marietta by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 8:55 pm.

Kiel Andres Dalrymple, age 18, 117 Ohio Boulevard, Marietta, for possession of drug paraphernalia and for possession of synthetic narcotics, both misdemeanors. Dalrymple was arrested in Marietta by Detective Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 11:15 pm.

Austin Tanner Hersman, age 18, 403 Keeler Drive, Marietta, for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Hersman was arrested in Marietta by Sgt. Hornbeck of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 11 at 11:15 pm.
