On 3 Jul 11 Sgt. Hornbeck issued a citation to Christopher T. Hackett, age 34, 1100 Fourth Avenue, Parkersburg, for traveling 74 mph in a 60 mph zone. Sgt. Hornbeck stopped Mr. Hackett on US 50 near State Route 618 in Belpre Township.

On 3 Jul 11 Sgt. Hornbeck issued a citation to Kyle P. Gaughey, age 24, 3053 Old Warson Drive, Pickerington, OH, for traveling 75 mph in a 60 mph zone. Sgt. Hornbeck stopped Mr. Gaughey on US 50 near Farson Street in Belpre Township.

On 3 Jul 11 Eric W. Straight, age 27, 4352 Henry Camp Road, Saint Marys, reported he was in his vehicle at Warren Elementary School while his girlfriend exchanged custody of her children with her ex-husband when he became involved in an argument with his girlfriend’s ex-husband. Mr. Straight said during the brief dispute the suspect brandished a 2 x 4, threw a partially full bottle of Powerade at him and kicked the driver side of his vehicle. This case remains under investigation (200).

On 3 Jul 11 William D. McFall Jr., age 52, 1218 Williamson Avenue, New Matamoras, reported after leaving the Grandview Tavern in the early morning hours he drove with a friend, Mitchell Erb, age 25, 100B Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, to the Aldeco Motel to visit friends. Highly intoxicated, Mr. Erb was jumping up and down on Mr. McFall’s truck and later instigated a fight with a hotel patrol. Mr. McFall stated when he broke up the fight Mr. Erb became highly agitated and again began jumping up and down on his truck. After exchanging words with Mr. McFall, Mr. Erb stated “I’ll just take your truck.” At that point Mr. Erb entered the vehicle, started the ignition and sped away southbound on State Route 7 along with Mr. McFall’s dog. As a result of the incident, Deputy Sheriff Reeder requested a warrant for Mr. Erb for theft of a motor vehicle. Mr. Erb was subsequently arrested in Saint Marys, WV for theft of the vehicle and other local charges and incarcerated in the North Central Regional Jail in West Virginia.

On 3 Jul 11 the owner of S&J Incense and Novelties, 26380 State Route 7, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered a storage trailer at the location and stole a total of fourteen various models of Vaporite vaporizers. The retail value of the stolen vaporizers is in excess of $3,000. This case remains under investigation (1184).

On 3 Jul 11 the Warren Fire Department transported a four year old Marietta resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment following an accident in an eight foot diameter, three foot high, inflatable pool. The child was left momentarily unsupervised while an adult tended to another child and found floating face down in the pool. An adult immediately performed CPR and the child breathing and talking upon the arrival of emergency squad personnel. The child was transported to the hospital as a precaution (200).

On 3 Jul 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson issued a citation to Roger L. Osborne, age 63, 784 Salster Road, Fleming, for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Anderson stopped Mr. Osborne on State Route 7 near Joe Skinner Road in Dunham Township.

The following individual was processed into the Washington County Jail:

James Joe Carpenter, age 51, 413 Third Street, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting, a misdemeanor. Carpenter was arrested on Third Street by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Jul 11 at 3:15 am.
