On 21 Jun 11 an employee of Virco Oil Company, 28407 State Route 7, Marietta, reported at some point during the past week an unknown suspect(s) stole three sets of weights from a pump jack located near milepost fourteen on County Nine Road in New Matamoras. This case remains under investigation (208).

On 21 Jun 11 Danny J. Delong, age 64, 3221 Belmont Street, Bellaire, OH, reported he is in the process of divorcing his wife and he believes she sold a large amount of his property he was to be granted in the divorce. This case remains under investigation (707).

On 21 Jun 11 the Little Hocking Fire Department transported Dakota Lawson, age 18, 1210 Drag Strip Road, Belpre, to Camden Clark Hospital for treatment to lacerations on his right hand. Questioned about his injury, Mr. Lawson said he became upset during an argument with his mother and punched a window in his camper. Emergency personnel stated Mr. Lawson’s injury will likely require stitches (1104).

On 21 Jun 11 Lt. Gherke was on patrol on School House Road in Little Hocking when he encountered a van stuck in a ditch near house number 3808. Questioning the driver, Jerry W. Caldwell, age 50, 2433 School House Road, Lt. Gherke detected an odor of alcohol and noticed Mr. Caldwell had glassy, bloodshot eyes. Mr. Caldwell claimed he swerved his van to avoid an oncoming vehicle and stated he had not consumed alcohol that evening. However, Lt. Gherke observed an open bottle of Natural Light on the floorboard of the driver’s side of the vehicle and two unopened bottles near the passenger door. Mr. Caldwell was unsteady on his feet and barely able to stand without support. Based on his observations Lt. Gherke arrested Mr. Caldwell for OVI and failure to control and transported him to the Washington County Jail. At the jail Mr. Caldwell tested .216 BAC.

On 21 Jun 11 Rodney Beebe, age 53, 1234 Beebe Road, Waterford, reported he travels frequently for work and he believes sometime between late April and late May a large amount of collectible coins, two dollar bills and other valuables were stolen from a filing cabinet in his garage. Mr. Beebe estimates the value of the stolen items is in excess of $10,000. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 21 Jun 11 Deputy Sheriff Holbert arrested Blake M. Keel, age 19, 1666 School House Road, Little Hocking, for theft. Mr. Keel’s mother reported she allowed her son to borrow her vehicle the previous evening and when she entered her vehicle the next morning there was a large “Men Working” sign in the back seat. When asked about the sign, Mr. Keel claimed he planned on returning the sign and said he thought it would be funny to take it.

On 21 Jun 11 Detective Johnson requested summonses for a seventeen year old Little Hocking resident and her boyfriend, a sixteen year old Beverly resident, to appear in Juvenile Court for being delinquent. During a heated argument that morning the teenagers threw Kool Aid and water at each other and at one point the female threw a vase onto an outside sidewalk. Out of frustration, the male said he threw a piece of the broken vase at his girlfriend and unintentionally cut her leg. The resulting laceration on the back of the female’s knee required several stitches to close. If committed by an adult the male would face a charge of negligent assault. The female’s charge, if committed by an adult, would be disorderly conduct.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Christopher J. McCloud, age 21, 113 Neal Avenue, Millen, GA, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. McCloud was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 11 at 3:13 am.

Eric Christopher Anderson, age 23, 900 Tresch Road, Fleming, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Anderson was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 11 at 2:18 pm.

John Stephen Bush, age 36, 60 Dye Street, Newport, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Bush was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Caltrider and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 11 at 4:46 pm.

Blake Mackenzie Keel, age 19, 1666 School House Road, Little Hocking, for theft and for violating the terms of his probation, both misdemeanors. Keel was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Holbert and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 11 at 8:45 pm.

Jerry Wayne Caldwell, age 50, 2433 School House Road, Little Hocking, for OVI and for failure to control, both misdemeanors. Caldwell was arrested on School House Road by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 11 at 10:25 pm.
