On 19 Jun 11 Vicky Johnson, age 56, 678 Walsh Road, Vincent, reported she was involved in a dispute with her son Randy, age 31. Arguing over family and monetary issues, Ms. Johnson said she was outside the residence when her son threatened to burn her house. Ms. Johnson said when she reentered her home her son was kneeling on the floor and holding a lighted cigarette lighter up to the leg of a living room chair. Ms. Johnson kicked the lighter out of her son’s hand, at which time he punched her in the stomach. As she attempted to run Ms. Johnson stated her son grabbed her by the hair and slapped her in the face. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Mr. Johnson for domestic violence and arson and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 19 Jun 11 Sgt. Johnson and Deputy Sheriff Simmons responded to a domestic dispute that occurred at 513 Broad Street, Macksburg. Witnesses at the scene were attending a birthday party for a family member when the incident involving Donna R. Griffen, age 57, 520 High Street, Macksburg, and her husband Ernest, age 65, occurred. The witnesses stated Mr. Griffen left the party for a short time and when he arrived later he was upset that his wife was drinking and had yet to return home. Mrs. Griffen said she was seated in a lawn chair when her husband approached her from behind and slapped her across the face. Mrs. Griffen commented that her husband has assaulted her previously and she was scared and surprised when he slapped her. Questioned by Deputy Simmons, Mr. Griffen admitted slapping his wife but could not provide and explanation for why he did so. As a result, Deputy Simmons arrested Mr. Griffen for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
