On 11 Jun 11 Deputy Sheriffs Holbert and Smeeks investigated a report of a party involving underage drinking at 3110 State Route 555, Little Hocking. When the Deputies knocked a seventeen year old answered the door with a beer in his hand. From the doorway the Deputies saw a number of beer cans on the floor inside the home along with two large marijuana smoking bongs. The home’s resident, Dakota Ellison, age 19, granted permission to search the resident and said he obtained the alcohol at his home from a friend earlier in the day. Each of the ten individuals in the home, including five juveniles, admitted consuming alcohol and stated they were celebrating Mr. Ellison’s birthday. Mr. Ellison and Kyle D. McCallister, age 18, 7265 O’Neal Road, Cutler claimed ownership of the drug paraphernalia but would not state if any of the other partygoers partook in smoking marijuana. The five juveniles were released to their parents and will be summonsed to Juvenile Court for delinquency by underage consumption of alcohol. In addition to being charged with underage consumption of alcohol, Mr. Ellison and Mr. McCallister were summonsed for possession of drug paraphernalia. Nathan Root, age 18, 8339 State Route 555, Cutler, and Heath Warren, age 18, 10609 State Route 555, Cutler, were summonsed for underage consumption as well. Zachary Pritt, age 21, 9772 State Route 555, Cutler, was not charged with an alcohol offense but was arrested for violating the terms of his probation.

On 11 Jun 11 Denise Murphy, age 40, 7465 Stanleyville Road, Whipple, reported she fled her home after her ex-husband Melvin, age 40, 7485 Stanleyville Road, walked to residence and began yelling and kicked in her sliding glass door. Ms. Murphy said her ex-husband appeared highly intoxicated and stated “when Melvin drinks he is crazy.” The incident caused Ms. Murphy to fear for her safety because she said Mr. Murphy has struck her in the past. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Schubert arrested Mr. Murphy for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 11 Jun 11 the Grandview Emergency Squad transported Baxter Grimes, age 34, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment to severe lacerations on the fingers of his left hand. Subsequently transferred to another hospital for further treatment, Mr. Grimes was cutting lumber on a circular saw when the injury occurred. Lt. Stackpole was unable to contact the second hospital to determine Mr. Grimes’ current condition.

On 11 Jun 11 the owner of Carper’s Well Service, 30745 State Route 7, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) pried open a side door at the business and stole seven radiators, 100 feet of copper welding lead and two power cords. This case remains under investigation (208).

On 11 Jun 11 the owner of Dave’s Auto Sales, 905 Virginia Street, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) cut the catalytic converters off two vehicles in the business’ lot. This case remains under investigation (707).

On 11 Jun 11 George Dalton, age 44, 34077 State Route 7, Newport, reported an individual who rents a camping lot from him informed him that a fire ring and a five foot scraper blade were stolen from the lot. Mr. Dalton found the stolen items at a local recycling center and arranged to have the items returned. Deputy Sheriff Caltrider is attempting to locate the individual who sold the items to the recycling center.

On 11 Jun 11 an employee of River City Tire, 1415 Pike Street, Marietta, reported an employee was performing routine maintenance on a vehicle when he noticed the catalytic converter was missing from the vehicle. The employee said the vehicle was driven the previous day and the part was on the vehicle at that time. This case remains under investigation (208).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Zachery David Pritt, age 21, 9772 State Route 555, Cutler, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Pritt was arrested at 3110 State Route 555 by Deputy Sheriff Holbert and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Jun 11 at 5:15 am.

Adam Michael Wells, age 21, 1201 County House Lane Apt. H, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Wells was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Gragan of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Jun 11 at 10:45 am.

Carl Jay Prescher, age 50, 3080 47th Street, Sarasota, FL, for driving under a suspended license and for not wearing a seat belt, both misdemeanors. Prescher was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 11 Jun 11 at 9:58 pm.
