On 26 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr responded to a domestic dispute at 3430 Millers Lane, Marietta. Dawna L. McNeely, age 34, 36851 Ball Run Road, Pomeroy, was visiting the residence along with her live-in boyfriend David Bing, age 28, and her three children. An argument erupted late that evening after Ms. McNeely refused to allow Mr. Mr. Bing to drive her vehicle because he does not have a valid license. As they struggled over the vehicle keys in the kitchen of the residence, Mr. Bing punched Ms. McNeely in the face and grabbed her neck. Ms. McNeely retaliated by striking Mr. Bing with a bottle, at which point Mr. Bing released her and went outside to Ms. McNeely’s truck. While Mr. Bing was inside the truck, Ms. McNeely again attempted to retrieve her keys but was struck in the back of the head by Mr. Bing. Mr. Bing released Ms. McNeely when her teenage son intervened and retreated to a bathroom when he heard law enforcement was called. Inside the bathroom, Mr. Bing punched a hole in the door and made several superficial cuts to his forearm using a pocket knife. Both parties were treated by the Newport Fire Department and declined to be transported to the hospital. Based on his investigation, Deputy Carr arrested Mr. Bing for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 26 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a summons for a seventeen year old Marietta resident to appear in Juvenile Court for being unruly. Asked to clean up a pile of junk and to mow the lawn, the juvenile refused to do the chores and fulminated with a barrage of obscenities. The teenager exclaimed he was not his father’s slave and he did not have to do what his father told him.

On 26 May 11 the owner of McLaughlin Motors, 3870 State Route 339, Belpre, reported he recently discovered an employee stole one of the business’ checks, forged his signature and cashed it for $800. This case remains under investigation (610).
