On 21 May 11 a thirty-seven year old Parkersburg resident reported he was threatened after he finished mowing an elderly Marietta resident’s lawn. The victim said he believes the suspect was upset because he mowed the lawn for free and the suspect, who is the woman’s grandson, used to receive $50 for mowing. Elaborating further, the victim stated the suspect may have been concealing something behind his back as he threatened to kill him and commented that he “could put a bullet in his head right now.” This case remains under investigation (608).

On 21 May 11 Chad Gardner, age 31, reported at some point during the night an unknown suspect(s) stole a riding mower from outside his fire damaged residence at 3630 State Route 339, Belpre. This case remains under investigation (610).

On 21 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested Thomas L. Doty II, age 42, 328 Arch Street, Barnesville, OH, for disorderly conduct. Doty and another male subject were removing scrap metal from property at 15830 State Route 821, Macksburg, when they became embroiled in an argument with the property owner. Deputy Reeder determined Mr. Doty and his cohort mistakenly removed the scrap from the property adjacent to the one where they were given permission to remove items. Deputy Reeder concluded no crime occurred but while he attempted to interview witnesses Mr. Doty interrupted him repeatedly and would not comply with other directions. Mr. Doty also staggered as he walked, slurred his speech and had a strong odor of alcohol. At the jail Mr. Doty tested .223 BAC.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Richard Alan Vann, age 43, Route 1 Box 59, Friendly, WV, for a felony charge of abduction and for a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Vann was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 May 11 at 7:36 pm.

Roman Scott Cline, age 22, 2737 First Street, Coolville, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Cline was picked up at the Athens County line by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 May 11 at 8:31 pm.

Thomas Lee Doty II, age 42, 328 Arch Street, Barnesville, OH, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Doty was arrested in Elba by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 May 11 at 10:59 pm.
