On 15 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Holbert responded
to the scene of death of an eighty-four year old Beverly resident.
The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no
foul play is suspected.
On 15 May 11 Justin Hughes, age 32, 201 Milton
Road, Marietta, reported he received several threatening phone
calls from the mother of his child, Tina McPeek, age 33, 428
Front Street, Marietta. Mr. Hughes said his ex-girlfriend called
him to say she was coming to retrieve property from his home
and if he didn’t give her the property she would kill
him and then herself. During his investigation Sgt. Norman learned
that Ms. McPeek made a number of inappropriate comments to the
couple’s six year old daughter. The juvenile said Ms.
McPeek told her that her father didn’t love her, that
her father drove another man to suicide and that her father
wanted Ms. McPeek to kill herself. Based on his investigation,
Sgt. Norman arrested Ms. McPeek for domestic violence and for
child endangering for making comments to her daughter that were
detrimental to her daughter’s mental health.
On 15 May 11 Christina Giammona, age 31, 530
1/2 High Street, Macksburg, reported she believes a friend stole
her 1998 Buick Regal from her driveway between 2:30 am 5:00
am that morning. Ms. Giammona stated she was asleep after a
night of drinking along with CJ Spencer, age 21, 128 Jefferson
Street, Dexter City, and another friend when she awoke to the
sound of a vehicle in her driveway. Thinking Ms. Spencer phoned
for a ride home, Ms. Giammona went back to sleep and woke to
find Ms. Spencer and her vehicle missing. Questioned at her
residence, Ms. Spencer initially denied taking the vehicle but
later said she fell asleep while driving and crashed it on Keith
Run Road in Noble County. Ms. Spencer subsequently admitted
taking the vehicle without permission. Consequently, Deputy
Sheriff Schubert requested a summons for Ms. Spencer for theft.
Ms. Spencer also faces charges in Noble County related to the
crash of the vehicle.
On 15 May 11 Cara Strickler, age 32, 230 Milltown
Road, Newport, reported she fled her home after being repeatedly
assaulted by her husband Jason, age 32. Waking his wife, Mr.
Strickler was furious over an affair she had a dozen years ago
and ordered her to stand outside in the rain. Mrs. Strickler
complied for a short time and when she reentered her bedroom
her husband punched her repeatedly and choked her. Escaping
to the living room after being struck with a belt, Mrs. Strickler
said she lost consciousness when her husband struck her head
on the kitchen floor several times. Mr. Strickler poured water
on his wife’s face to awake her, continued to beat her
and threatened to kill her. Mrs. Strickler eventually broke
free and sought refuge at a nearby relative’s home. Interviewing
Mrs. Strickler, Deputy Sheriff Schubert concluded her injuries
were consistent with her account of the morning’s events.
Therefore, Deputy Schubert arrested Mr. Strickler for domestic
violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jason Lee Strickler, age 32, 230 Milltown Road,
Newport, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Strickler was
arrested at his residence by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 15 May 11 at 12:57 pm.
Tina Christine McPeek, age 33, 428 Front Street,
Marietta, for a felony charge of child endangering and for a
misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. McPeek was arrested
at her residence by Sgt. Norman of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 May
11 at 9:05 pm.
Christopher K. Modesitt, age 35, 2804 14th
Avenue, Vienna, for a felony charge of aggravated arson and
for a misdemeanor charge of falsification. Modesitt was arrested
in Marietta by Patrolman McClelland of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
15 May 11 at 11:16 pm.
