On 15 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Holbert responded to the scene of death of an eighty-four year old Beverly resident. The man’s death appears to be due to natural causes; no foul play is suspected.

On 15 May 11 Justin Hughes, age 32, 201 Milton Road, Marietta, reported he received several threatening phone calls from the mother of his child, Tina McPeek, age 33, 428 Front Street, Marietta. Mr. Hughes said his ex-girlfriend called him to say she was coming to retrieve property from his home and if he didn’t give her the property she would kill him and then herself. During his investigation Sgt. Norman learned that Ms. McPeek made a number of inappropriate comments to the couple’s six year old daughter. The juvenile said Ms. McPeek told her that her father didn’t love her, that her father drove another man to suicide and that her father wanted Ms. McPeek to kill herself. Based on his investigation, Sgt. Norman arrested Ms. McPeek for domestic violence and for child endangering for making comments to her daughter that were detrimental to her daughter’s mental health.

On 15 May 11 Christina Giammona, age 31, 530 1/2 High Street, Macksburg, reported she believes a friend stole her 1998 Buick Regal from her driveway between 2:30 am 5:00 am that morning. Ms. Giammona stated she was asleep after a night of drinking along with CJ Spencer, age 21, 128 Jefferson Street, Dexter City, and another friend when she awoke to the sound of a vehicle in her driveway. Thinking Ms. Spencer phoned for a ride home, Ms. Giammona went back to sleep and woke to find Ms. Spencer and her vehicle missing. Questioned at her residence, Ms. Spencer initially denied taking the vehicle but later said she fell asleep while driving and crashed it on Keith Run Road in Noble County. Ms. Spencer subsequently admitted taking the vehicle without permission. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff Schubert requested a summons for Ms. Spencer for theft. Ms. Spencer also faces charges in Noble County related to the crash of the vehicle.

On 15 May 11 Cara Strickler, age 32, 230 Milltown Road, Newport, reported she fled her home after being repeatedly assaulted by her husband Jason, age 32. Waking his wife, Mr. Strickler was furious over an affair she had a dozen years ago and ordered her to stand outside in the rain. Mrs. Strickler complied for a short time and when she reentered her bedroom her husband punched her repeatedly and choked her. Escaping to the living room after being struck with a belt, Mrs. Strickler said she lost consciousness when her husband struck her head on the kitchen floor several times. Mr. Strickler poured water on his wife’s face to awake her, continued to beat her and threatened to kill her. Mrs. Strickler eventually broke free and sought refuge at a nearby relative’s home. Interviewing Mrs. Strickler, Deputy Sheriff Schubert concluded her injuries were consistent with her account of the morning’s events. Therefore, Deputy Schubert arrested Mr. Strickler for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jason Lee Strickler, age 32, 230 Milltown Road, Newport, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Strickler was arrested at his residence by Lt. Gherke of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 May 11 at 12:57 pm.
