On 8 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Simmons and the
L-A, Beverly and Salem fire departments responded to a fire
at a residence owned by timothy Dobbins, age 48, at 3905 State
Route 530, Lowell. Mr. Dobbins’ son, who was present when
the fire started, said he initially noticed smoke around the
ceiling in his bedroom and then observed fire emanating from
a fuse box in another bedroom. Mr. Dobbins’ son along
with his son’s wife and their child escaped from the home
without injury. The home was a total loss.
On 8 May 11 Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested
a summons for a fourteen year old Whipple resident to appear
in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by committing gross
sexual imposition. The Fort Frye High School student was previously
found delinquent on a similar charge and was to remain in an
assigned seat on his school bus. However, on 29 Apr 11 school
authorities reported the teenager moved from his assigned seat
and inappropriately touched younger students on multiple occasions.
Questioned about his behavior, the teenager admitted touching
the females inappropriately and attempting to tickle them on
On 8 May 11 a seventeen year old Belpre resident
reported her iPod Touch was stolen from her purse on 4 May while
she attended class at the Washington County Career Center. This
case remains under investigation (610).
On 8 May 11 Jason R. Thomas, age 33, 2740 Neff
Ridge Road, Marietta, reported he was threatened by a relative.
Mr. Thomas stated he was recently arrested for domestic violence
involving his son and that the suspect threatened to kill him
if he mistreated the child again. Deputy Sheriff Reeder confirmed
the fact that a confrontation took place but did not conclude
that the suspect threatened Mr. Thomas. As a result, Deputy
Reeder closed this case as unfounded.
On 8 May 11 Janet Light, age 62, 1018 Grandview
Avenue, New Matamoras, reported her husband Joseph, age 83,
appeared distraught and confused when he departed their residence
in his vehicle that evening and she has not heard from him for
several hours. Mr. Light’s current whereabouts remain
On 8 May 11 Madge B. Rauch, age 69, 2071 Rauch
Road, Fleming, reported she was riding an ATV on her property
with her husband when they noticed two large spools of wire.
This case remains under investigation (610).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Gary Anthony Robinson, age 20, 16220 Greenlawn
Street, Detroit, MI, for speeding and for driving under a suspended
license, both misdemeanors. Robinson was arrested in Muskingum
Township by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 8 May 11 at 12:52 pm.
Richard John Reed II, age 23, 720 Tanner Road,
Taylors, SC, for obstructing justice, possession of drug paraphernalia,
speeding, for operating a vehicle with expired license plates
and for two counts of possession of drugs, all misdemeanors.
Reed was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 May
11 at 11:15 pm.
