On 28 Apr 11 Deputy Sheriff Carr and the L-A
Fire Department responded to a fire at the residence of Julie
Varhola, age 42, at 216 Fourth Street, Lowell. After waking,
Ms. Varhola Said she discovered smoke emanating from the kitchen
area of the home’s first floor. The fire was contained
to a bathroom adjacent to the kitchen and was apparently caused
by a hot hair flattening iron. The home sustained smoke and
water damage but remains structurally sound. No injuries were
On 28 Apr 11 Amy N. Mangan, age 22, 28980 State
Route 7, Marietta, reported she was involved in a domestic dispute
with the father of two month old child, Justin R. Anderson,
age 22, 378 Anderson Road, Fleming. During the incident Ms.
Mangan said her boyfriend dragged her around by her hair, slapped
and punched her in the face. Ms. Mangan also stated when she
was packing belongings to leave Mr. Anderson threatened to kill
her. While he denied striking Ms. Mangan, Mr. Anderson stated
he believed his actions scared her. Consequently, Deputy Sheriff
Mankins arrested Mr. Anderson for domestic violence and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jakeb Michael Bailey, age 20, 4746 Federal
Road, Coolville, for using a weapon while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.
Bailey was arrested at his residence by Sgt. Hornbeck of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 28 Apr 11 at 11:15 am.
Christopher Adam Lent, age 24, 1008 Fifth Street
Apt. 1, Marietta, for a felony charge of tampering with evidence
and for two counts of violating the terms of a protection order.
Lent was arrested by Patrolman Warden at the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
28 Apr 11 at 5:54 pm.
