On 13 Apr 11 Sgt. Hornbeck requested a summons
for Sampson McDonald, age 34, 1365 Sheets Run Road, Marietta,
for assault. Mr. Sampson was babysitting a friend’s eight
year old daughter at a residence in Marietta on 4 Apr when he
slapped the child across the mouth. Questioned about the incident,
Mr. McDonald admitted striking the child because she was being
loud and he wanted her to quiet down because his girlfriend
had a migraine.
On 13 Apr 11 Curtis M. Wildman, age 69, 1250
Braun Road, Belpre, reported that evening he caught an unknown
male and an unknown female attempting to steal scrap metal from
outside a vacant residence he owns at 1225 Braun Road. Mr. Wildman
said the suspects quickly unloaded the items from the bed of
the truck they were using and hastily departed. Taking inventory
of items on the property of his late mother, Mr. Wildman believes
three pipe racks, an angle iron and other miscellaneous scrap
were stolen from the location during the past several days.
This case remains under investigation (610).
On 13 Apr 11 Matthew S. Spindler, age 35, 14430
state Route 60, Beverly, reported a witness informed him that
two unknown males were disposing of what appeared to be old
garage doors on his property. Briefly confronting the suspects,
Mr. Spindler said the suspects told them they received permission
from a relative to dispose of the junk at the location. Mr.
Spindler said the two fled when he returned to his residence
to verify their story but they later returned and were cleaning
up the debris. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff Simmons, one of
the suspects stated he believed they were disposing of the trash
on his uncle’s property. This case remains under investigation.
On 13 Apr 11 Sgt. Underwood and Deputy Sheriff
Anderson responded to the scene of a domestic dispute at the
residence of Stanley L. Barker, age 53, at 14761 State Route
555, Cutler. The Deputies concluded no act of domestic violence
occurred but discovered that Mr. Barker was in possession of
two firearms that he is not legally permitted to possess. Additionally,
the Deputies found a baggie of white powder that field tested
positive for cocaine. Based on their investigation, Deputy Anderson
will be submitting a grand jury brief supporting charges of
possession of cocaine and being in possession while under disability
for Mr. Barker.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jessica Dawn Smith, age 22, 5002 Emerson Avenue,
Parkersburg, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Smith turned
herself in to Patrolman Wenzel at the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 11 at
Grady Allyn Hamilton, age 35, 105 Brentwood
Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Hamilton was arrested at his residence by Patrolman
Wenzel of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 13 Apr 11 at 3:25 pm.
