On 6 Apr 11 a passerby reported seeing four or five black trash bags along Zion Ridge Road near the third mile marker. This case remains under investigation (594).

On 6 Apr 11 an employee at the Washington County Career Center reported finding a seventeen year old Newport resident in possession of a small bag of marijuana. Questioned about the contraband, the juvenile admitted it belonged to him and stated he smoked marijuana the previous week. Deputy Sheriff Lockhart plans to file charges against the teenager in the near future.

On 6 Apr 11 Michelle Ellinger, age 32, 1620 Glendale Road, Marietta, reported her live-in boyfriend Kevin Dorman, age 37, was giving her six year old son a bath when she heard her son cry and then heard a slap. Confronting Mr. Dorman, Ms. Ellinger said her son was crying because the water was too hot and that Mr. Dorman commented that her son needs to toughen up and “needs to grow a pair.” After she returned from taking her son to school Ms. Ellinger said an argument with Mr. Dorman erupted and he threatened to leave with their two year old daughter. Ms. Ellinger stated as she picked up the child and attempted to flee Mr. Dorman grabbed her by the arms and held her against a wall. Escaping briefly, Ms. Ellinger said Mr. Dorman pinned her against a wall and choked her. Based on his investigation, Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested Mr. Dorman for two counts each of domestic violence and endangering children and transported him to the Washington County Jail.


On 6 April 2011 at 1728 Agents with the Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant at the residence of Russell S. Burkhammer, Jr., 1023 Third Street, Marietta, Ohio. Upon searching the residence Agents located a quart Mason jar full of Marijuana, three sets of digital scales, and unused plastic sandwich bags. Digital scales and plastic bags are utilized to weigh and package Marijuana for distribution.

Agents also located two bolt action shotguns and a Marlin semi auto 22 caliber rifle inside of the home. The two shotguns were located in the dining room and the rifle under his bed. The defendant has convictions in the State of California for two counts of Battery against a police officer and one count of assault on a Custodial Officer. These charges prohibited the defendant from possessing firearms. The residence is located within 1000 feet of St. Mary’s School and three children under the age of 18 were in the residence when the search warrant was executed. The defendant was arrested for Trafficking in Marijuana (F4) and possession of Weapons under Disability (F3). He is incarcerated in the Washington County Jail pending an appearance in Marietta Municipal Court.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Kevin Michael Dorman, age 37, 1620 Glendale Road, Marietta, for two counts of domestic violence and for two counts of endangering children, all misdemeanors. Dorman was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail 6 Apr 11 at 10:00 am.

Zackary Paiton Taylor, age 18, 710 Eighth Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, theft and for underage consumption of alcohol, all misdemeanors. Taylor was arrested on Fourth Street by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Apr 11 at 5:41 pm.

Russell S. Burkhammer Jr., age 38, 1023 Third Street, Marietta, for trafficking in drugs and for possessing a weapon while under disability, both felonies. Burkhammer was arrested at his residence by Detective Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail 6 Apr 11 at 10:20 pm.
