On 17 Mar 11 the director at the Washington County Career Center reported a custodian found what appeared to be a bag of marijuana on a sidewalk outside the school. School officials, along with Deputy Sheriff Anderson, are viewing surveillance footage in attempt to identify the contraband’s owner.

On 17 Mar 11 a thirteen year old Newport resident reported her mother’s live-in boyfriend punched her in the face the previous evening. Under further questioning the teenager revealed that she lied about the assault because she does not get along with her mother’s boyfriend. Deputy Sheriff Simmons anticipates filing charges on the juvenile for filing a false report.

On 17 Mar 11 Deputy Sheriff Deem requested summonses for George McIntyre Jr., age 49, and Donald E. Riley, age 27, both of 101 Woodcrest Lane, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by fighting. Mr. Riley was in the kitchen of the residence arguing with his wife when Mr. McIntyre, who is his father in law, awoke and entered the room. An argument between the two followed and Mr. Riley taunted his father in law to fight him outside. Mr. McIntyre then retrieved a foot long club from his bedroom and followed his son in law outdoors. Family members intervened and the two separated before any physical altercation took place. Mr. Riley used a lifeline, phoning a friend, and agreed to sleep elsewhere for the evening.

On 17 Mar 11 Scott Fitcher, age 44, 3959 State Route 339, Belpre, reported he was traveling toward his home on State Route 339 when he noticed an oncoming vehicle was pulling a trailer with a riding mower similar to his on it. When he returned to his residence, Mr. Fitcher said the lock was gone from his utility building and his riding mower, a battery charger and a power drill were missing. The total value of the stolen items is approximately $1,200. This case remains under investigation (790).

On 17 Mar 11 a thirty-five year old Marietta resident reported her fourteen year old son fled the home after arguing with his sibling for most of the afternoon. The teenager was later located at a relative’s home and returned to his residence (1209).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Zoe Oceana Ward, age 19, 1049 24th Street, Parkersburg, for failure to obey a traffic control device and for underage consumption of alcohol, both misdemeanors. Ward was arrested on Greene Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Mar 11 at 3:15 am.

Jonathan Lee Arthurs, age 18, 18173 State Route 550, Marietta, for OVI, failure to control and for possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Arthurs was arrested on Bethel Road by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Mar 11 at 3:42 am.

Phillip Zachariah Singer, age 21, 40 Hanover Road, Cutler, for driving under a suspended license and for failure to obey the right of way, both misdemeanors. Singer was arrested on Gilman Street by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Mar 11 at 4:04 am.

Joshua Allen Campbell, age 28, 216 Fourth Street, Lowell, for a felony charge of theft and for a misdemeanor charge of misuse of a credit card. Campbell was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Mar 11 at 10:19 am.

Lee Roy Walker, age 30, 117 Acme Street, Marietta, for two felony counts of domestic violence and for a misdemeanor charge of menacing. Walker was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Chapman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Mar 11 at 4:32 pm.
