On 31 Jan 11 the Marietta Fire Department transported a twenty-four year old Marietta resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital following a suicide attempt. The victim, who cut himself on both wrists, was cooperative and stated he was depressed because his girlfriend broke up with him earlier in the day. The victim received a total of fourteen stitches to close his wounds and was to undergo further evaluation (594).

On 31 Jan 11 Andrew Beaver, age 29, 100 West Chester Drive, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) stole a black backpack from his unlocked vehicle. Mr. Beaver said the backpack contained a pair of shoes, a bottle of prescription medication, tax documents and $110 in cash. This case remains under investigation (208).

On 31 Jan 11 the Warren Fire Department transported a sixteen year old Marietta resident to Marietta Memorial Hospital following an accident at the Washington County Career Center. The teenager was assisting his teacher in placing a motor on a motor mount when the teacher said he heard the teenager scream. The nearly 3,000 pound motor severed the student’s right thumb to the first knuckle. A nearby student retrieved the severed portion to place on ice but surgeons were unable to reattach the amputated region (1293).

On 31 Jan 11 an employee of Frito Lay reported he parked his truck at the company’s lot at 150 Ayers Boulevard, Belpre at 3 pm on 29 Jan and another employee informed him around 5 am on 31 Jan that the driver and passenger side windows of his company truck were broken. The employee said the broken windows allowed the suspect(s) to access the cargo area of the truck and approximately $555 worth of product was stolen. This case remains under investigation (1293).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Keith Allen Stire, age 56, 2011 Washington Boulevard, Belpre, for felonious assault. Stire was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Hunter of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Jan 11 at 12:47 pm.

David Scott McAtee, age 53, 1500 Winchester Road, Lyndhurst, OH, for driving under a suspended license and speeding, both misdemeanors. McAtee was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Jan 11 at 10:53 pm.

Michael Alan Lightfritz, age 30, 805 Leonard Avenue, Belpre, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Lightfritz was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Fields of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Jan 11 at 10:56 pm.

Zackary Paiton Taylor, age 18, 710 Eighth Street, Marietta, for underage consumption of alcohol and for two counts of theft, all misdemeanors. Taylor was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 31 Jan 11 at 11:42 pm.
